River Song is shown lying on a bed in her jail cell, looking rather bored.
RS (in voiceover): My name is Dr. River Song, an imprisoned time traveler. My past ensured that I had no future…at least until he came along. Although it wasn’t the he I was expecting.
Off screen voice: Dr. Song, you have a visitor.
Cut to Song standing in front of her cell talking to a man on the other side.
Jean-Luc Picard: I’m Jean-Luc Picard and I’ve been plucked from the time stream by the Time Masters for what I’m told is a very off the books mission. I said I needed a time travel expert and they sent me to you…as someone used to working off the books.
Song smiles wryly.
RS: Well, I’m not actually permitted to leave. How are you going to handle that?
JLP: I have someone working on it.
Cut to Gamora battling guards.
RS (in voiceover): That someone was Gamora, who certainly didn’t mind getting her hands dirty.
Cut to the three running from guards with laser fire whizzing around them.
RS: I’m guessing you have a way out of here.
JLP: Right there, the Waverider.
Cut to a shot of the Waverider on a landing pad.
RS (in voiceover): It certainly beat a phone box.
Cut to the Waverider whizzing through space while being chased by firing ships.
RS (in voiceover): In the escape the time circuits were damaged and swept us off to some sort of pocket dimension, where we found a tall drink of water in need of a ride.
The Waverider is shown in a black void with a figure floating up to it. Cut to him on the Waverider, extending his hand out with a smile.
Coop: Joe Cooper, but friends call me “Coop,” thanks for the lift.
Jump cut to later in the conversation.
Coop: Oh, I’m sure I can fly this thing, but I’m going to need a co-pilot and navigator. And I have just the guy in mind and from where we can find him, he’s probably in more need of a lift than I was.
Cut to Matthew Kowalski floating in space. He looks up as the Waverider is reflected in his helmet.
Cut to the five standing around a table.
JLP: In my estimation, I think all we need now is an engineer.
Gamora: I have heard of a man who might be able to help.
Cut to Tony Stark in his palatial penthouse with a drink.
TS: I don’t do space. I was there once, didn’t like it.
JLP: Mr. Stark, we have come a long way through time and space…
TS: Wait, your ship can travel through time.
RS: Yes, the technology is something even you have never dreamed of.
TS (calling over his shoulder): Pepper, honey, don’t wait up. I’m going for a walk.
RS (in voiceover): So, now we have a crew, but for what we don’t yet know. Picard isn’t talking, but I like the strong, silent type. I’m sure I can get it out of him…in time.
