During the regular wresting draft in the spring it was mentioned about doing a similar draft, but only using fictional characters and then booking matches from there. I said I would be willing to head up. So this thread is to see if there is interest in doing that still, get sign ups and laydown guidelines. Feel free to provide feedback, suggest ideas and ask questions. Nothing would be set until the draft starts. I have not set a start date yet.
-After draft and add/drop there will be three rounds of head to head match-ups. If an even number of teams, we will have divisions and the division winners will square off in a finals. There will be no add/drop or trading in between rounds. (Interest drops off at the face-off round, so trying to keep short and simple). Each card must consist of at least one wrestling match between at least two opponents. Other than that, cards can be comprised of whatever segments, contests, battles, etc., you wish. League threads should be used for detailing characters and storylines, setting up what is on your card and detailing the aftermath of cards.
-Draft clocks are eight hours. Miss a clock and it’s cool, miss two clocks and you go to four hour clocks, miss three clocks and you’re on auto-skip for rest of draft. Clock suspension will be observed daily from midnight to 8 a.m., but picks can still be made during that time frame.
-No real people living or dead can be drafted or direct, fairly accurate representations of any real person in popular media. Nobody playing themselves. No real person from a fairly accurate biopic or historical work. Meaning you can’t draft Bill Murray as himself from Zombie Land or Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill from Darkest Hour as examples. Characters loosely based on a real person, but not that person, is acceptable, such as the Dude from Big Lebowski, who is only loosely based on Jeff Dowd, but is not Jeff Dowd. Abraham Lincoln from Lincoln is a no, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is a yes. Elvis Presley from the Elvis TV Movie and early years miniseries is a no, Elvis from Bubba Ho-Tep is a yes.
-Fictional characters can be drafted from any media. This includes but is not limited to movies, television, music, books, video games, role playing and board games, comic books, poetry, etc. Once that character is off the board, they are gone in all forms. So if someone drafts Bruce Wayne/Batman, then someone else can’t draft Batman from the Animated Series, or Michael Keaton from Batman or Batman from the Arkham games. However, different versions of Batman (such as Dick Grayson or Damian Wayne) would still be eligible, because it’s not the Bruce Wayne version. You’re drafting the character, not an actor playing the character or the character from a specific media. If you want to specify that you're using Michael Keaton as Batman, that's fine, but you have access to any Bruce Wayne. Be as specific as possible on the character you’re taking.
-Looking for 10 to 12 teams to draft fictional characters for 40 rounds with five add/drop slots. No arena needs to be drafted. There is no mandate on drafting announcers, authority figures or other certain positions, but you may fill any spots with any people you wish.

-No real wrestlers. While it can be easily argued that many professional wrestling characters are fictional (The Undertaker) the point of this draft is to do something different than the regular wrestling drafts, where those characters are available all the time. So no characters who have their origins in the world of professional wrestling are eligible. Those with an origin outside of pro wrestling who then became real wrestlers are fine (Zeus from No Holds Barred, Suicide from the TNA video game, KISS Demon from KISS’ stage show and other works). Real wrestlers playing fictional wrestlers are good (Hulk Hogan as Thunderlips in Rock 3, Randy Savage as Bonesaw McGraw in Spiderman). And any fictional wrestlers are fine (Randy the Ram from the Wrestler, Zangrief from Streetfighter, even any of the OOWF characters from the fantasy league part of this board).
-No God, whether you believe such an entity is real or not. Small ‘g’, gods are fine. Roman and Greek gods are the same characters, even though the names are different and there are some slight differences.
-Anything else not covered would be similar to the regular wrestling draft and feel free to PM me with any questions or if you have concerns on a pick being eligible. You are encouraged to do write-ups to promote your fed and develop storylines and characters. Just have fun and try to feel the spirit of this experiment, don’t try to outsmart everybody and think around the rules just because.
Say if you’re in below and also given any feedback or questions. Once we’re up to at least 10, I’ll set up a date.
