We haven't done one of these in awhile, and I know we have a lot of music fans around these parts.

I'm proposing we draft 16-24 bands/musicians for a 2-or-3-day "festival-style" lineup.

I am also proposing 2 separate showdowns:

Showdown 1 would treat your lineup as if you were operating separate stages at the same festival, and votes would be for which band/musician's stage you would go to if they were playing head-to-head. Voting will essentially be artist vs. artist vs. piss/refreshment break, and whoever has the most cumulative votes (i.e. "people checking out their artist") over their entire festival moves on to the next round, so on and so forth until there is an ultimate winner.

Showdown 2 would be a broader "who has the better overall festival" in a simple festival vs. festival bracketed showdown. A potential alternative (or even potential 3rd showdown) would be simple day vs. day voting (i.e. Gator Day 2 vs. Solly Day 1).

All of these showdown options appeal to me, and I will run them all if there is interest.

Depending on the final # of drafters, I'm thinking either 2 10-artist days or 3 8-artist days. (20 or 24 total artists.) I will likely make that determination based on the # of drafters that will allow for the easiest showdown portion.

The 2-or-3-day-shows differentiation will really only come into play, though, if we approach Showdown 2 as a "best day" showdown rather than a "best overall festival" showdown. Thoughts on that? I'm leaning overall festival, but I can see the argument for best day.

It'll be in the official rules, but for those of you planning ahead you will be drafting the band/artist, and a band consisting of artists who have done other stuff will not preclude you from drafting those bandmembers in other bands or as solo acts.

For example (and to not really namedrop much), They Might Be Giants mainly consists of John Linnell and John Flansburgh. You could draft TMBG, Linnell, & Mono Puff (Flansburgh's side band) all separately.

On the other hand, though, certain artists have collaborated for concerts, but not albums. To be eligible, any said collaboration must have released at least 2 distinct studio-recorded songs to be deemed eligible.

Because that opens a whole major can of worms for artists/bands who have come out together for 1 song guest spots, especially at music festivals.

If they've done an album together (as 2 major hip-hop artists have done recently), have at it.
