I don't get voting Rugen here. I guess there's a bit of an "ugh Friends" sentiment because we don't have the nostalgic distance from it that we do with Taxi/Night Court/etc, but between these two, only Joey has even an arguable case for the championship (purest comic relief on arguably greatest sitcom of all time).

I would submit no other live action sitcom has as many nationally recognized characters by face alone. (I specify number b/c I think Seinfeld's main four might give them a run.) Can't find a relevant poll to back me up though, so this is probably Generation Y bias and kids today think that old stuff can't compare to The Big Bang Theory. (Which I don't think is that good, but in ratings alone it's almost shocking none of us nominated any character.)

It's in the discussion for sure. And it's better than Seinfeld, that's a definite thing.

Right, it's crazy to say it's not on the list. Go to any rank-aggregator site right now and see where Friends ranks in greatest sitcoms--it's a consensus top three for a reason. I'm not really arguing it's better than Seinfeld. I just think the characters advancing over characters from Friends (and Seinfeld! We knocked out George Constanza first round!) are just odd picks.

But The Princess Bride is my favorite movie ever, so I'm not that mad.
