Believe it or not, some day this showdown will end. I know, I find it hard to believe too. After all its already taken up almost 3 months of our lives. But SOMEDAY it will end. And I've made a unilateral decision that our next showdown needs to take a step away from comics and cartoons and get our blood going for a good reason. Hot Chicks!

Discussion has started in the NSFW forum and I believe the showdown will be held there to open up room for evidence of a certain type. But I figure some people may not venture down there so I'd put it up there.

Tentatively the plan is a 20 person ballot. Field of 32. Although I'm debating going up to 25/64 but scared of another long showdown (even though I think I can turn a 64 field into 5 weeks tops). And there are NO restrictions on who goes on the ballot. Age, profession, gender. So if Courtney would like to submit a 20 man ballot she is free to (knowing full well that at most only a handful of her men would make the field and would most assuredly get slaughtered in the 1st round). And if Ryan would like to post a bunch of 16 year olds from the Disney channel he can. And then half the guys here can nominate the jailbait cheerleader from Heroes and we can have a nice battle of morals. And Punker and Gator can nominate a bunch of depraved women I've never heard of with the ugliest fake tits ever. Whatever floats your boat.

I'll talk to Optimus Prime's Sex Slave and get a sense of when he thinks his showdowns will end. But this bitch is happening so feel free to make any suggestions and prepare your ballot.

I really am leaning towards a 64 ballot as I really think I can do that in 5 weeks. But I'm worried the scope of it might scare some of you off after this last never ending showdown.

Do we wanna limit the scope of who to nominate at all? Because people are going to forget complete areas to nominate. Maybe limit it to TV/Movies and leave music and sports chicks for a later date this way we can come back and do this again after we do a few other nerdy showdowns.

And damn, I could do a list of 100 on my own, bringing it down to 25 is going to be tough. And yes I will be on the side of the morality debate that calls Hayden hot as balls.

I figure just leave it open to whatever. If you vote some obscure chick or a niche chick, you know she stands a poor shot of making it on. I know that we could probably break it apart into subsections and such but that creates more showdowns. And I'm sure plenty of people want to do any number of other topics after we spend a month on posting pictures of half naked women (or fully naked). Especially Courtney. That's also part of the reason that I'm pretty sure I've convinced myself to do a field of 64. Get as many in as possible.

That's 7 weeks. That's a lot. I was hoping for 5 giving each a week and having no more than 8 started in a day and no more than 16 going at a time. Hmm. Maybe will have to stick to 32.

Your guys call. You want more ladies/men/underage girls say the word. You want to specify the criteria say the word. I'm for leaving it wide open and trying to fit in as many as possible in a reasonable amount of time.

Looks like we're down to the Final Four for the 2 existing showdowns when these polls lock so I'm guessing they finish within 2 weeks? That would work out perfect since I won't be available to do the work this weekend anyway.

So lets say the tentative start day for this tourney is Monday, April 23rd and ballots are due the 19th. And for the fuck of it, say 25. If those last 5 prove unnecessary after a few days of discussion, no biggie. Just keep that possibility in mind if you don't want a woman missing the possible cut of 20.

We'll hold the actually tourney down in NSFW so you can do your boobies posting and flooding of hot chicks then. But I want to keep this up here to get a little more attention. This one will be ending next week. Final Fours starts Wednesday and the big ending on Monday/Tuesday.

Three months? Geez, I didn't realize they had been going on that long. I tried a number of things along the way, so here's some advice for your contest.

1) Bracket maker is your friend if you're doing 32 or 64 noms.
2) I had people nominate them in order of 1-16 and seeded by reverse point totals. It worked pretty well. If you have an odd number of noms like I did you can use byes to bring the totals up to 32 or 64.
3) Have some sort of tiebreaker system in mind. I think we've had six or seven do far. You don't have a kid to use as yours, and even if you knock up Cort in the next day or so the kid won't be born in time to use for the contest. Maybe you can use the Magic 8 Ball Pun has floating around somewhere?
4) That first round of 64 took FOREVER. But part of that was the discussion for all the available candidates. If you want to skip that part it will cut down on the time, but the discussions were half the fun. The other rounds happened quicker.
5) I staggered the votes a number of different ways to see what worked best. My impression was that people liked a bunch at once best. I limited mine to four or five at a time, but you could probably do eight or more at one shot with no problem.
6) This thing is time intensive. Be prepared for that.
7) If you're going to do it quickly, make sure that's clear from the get-go. I sped it up a few times and confused some people. There has traditionally been a rush of voters on the first day and about 5-6 that trickle in over the next two days. If you set different rules in the beginning make sure everyone knows what they are.
I don't think scope scared anyone away, so I wouldn't let that influence your decision. Most everyone that popped into the latest showdowns were regulars who would visit here anyway. We even snagged a few newbs, like producefucker.
9) Tex seemed to stick to a rigid schedule. I kept mine looser. There are pluses and minuses to both. Pick which one works for you.

I know there's more, but these are the ones off the top of my head. Once again, mine will be over with by next week.

Thanks. Pretty sure I'll use the bracket site but I might just make up a bracket in Photoshop or something. Pretty sure I'm gonna go 8 a "wave" for time's sake, but give each poll a week. Give plenty of people time to chime in.

Not sure about discussion. It extends everything out but maybe that's fine. One of you guys did a thing where you kept the polls locked for a couple of days. I think I might just do that. Give people time to post pictures and win over votes before the votes are cast. But maybe I'll just do the discussion thread each Monday like you did at first and put up the polls a little later. Will probably end up adding a week or so but maybe an extra week of hot chicks is ok.

I figure the first 64 should take 2 weeks (16 days to be precise) staggered with 8 in each conference. I suppose I could put up a "Discussion" thread 2 days earlier, or just put each poll up locked 2 days earlier than I planned. Otherwise the 64 will probably take 3 weeks or more and I won't be able to stay to as reliable a schedule as I'd like. I'd like people to know that on Monday new polls are there and that you should make sure you've voted by Sunday.

I'll figure out tiebreakers. Maybe just use that 8 ball. If nothing else I'll flip a coin.

In fairness to what loki's been running:

1) It's gone about 2 months and will be between 2.5 and 3 when complete

2) The dude could have run a smaller showdown as originally intended but took on something far bigger in scope (dual live action / cartoon; "you entered it, it's in") to accomodate the constituents here.

3) The realization of "oh shit, forgot X" led him to run a "forgotten noms" mini showdown to accomodate our dumbassery in nominations.

I get that it seems like it may have been a long time. But then again punboards have only been really going for 6.5 mos....


EDIT: I hate saying this cuz I'm actually advocating for the guy, but loki's done good with the showdown and just wanna make sure he gets the props he deserves for the effort and time commitment he spent running this thing. If ya got a spare exalt, send it his way to say "thanks".

Oh, I didn't mean to diss Loki. He's done a great job and I've enjoyed it. Its just been a long show and it feels like forever since the last Showdown. I'd like to retain some of the scope while cutting some of the time. I don't think its Loki's fault and I don't think its lessened the showdown. Its just a fact of the size. Bitch was going to have to be long.

It also hurts that I wasn't as into this one as other were/are, so it maybe felt a bit longer to me. The whole "Hot Chicks" rule has been a big satire on my apathy to the Live Action and at least half the cartoons did nothing for me. Which is really just tastes. Can't imagine how some felt about the comic ones or how poor Courtney will feel about this one. Like I said, Loki's done a tremendous job. If only because he's managed to come up with witty tag lines for the opening and closing of all polls. That there is talent and effort.

I hate spending too much time overanalyzing things and anguishing over who I pick and what there placement is. Just go with gut/first pass, give it a sanity check, and be done. Yeah, I think there's a good and a bad to it. The good is that MKid sees a name and says "Oh yeah! I forgot her!"
