Put together whatever type of team you want. Offensively obviously you need 5 offensive lineman and a quarterback but other than that, up to you. If you want to go 5 wide receivers and throw the ball every down, then welcome to the board Mr McCarthy. PLEASE LEARN TO RUN THE FUCKING BALL AND KEEP YOUR SHITTY DEFENSE OFF THE FIELD AS LONG AS HUMANLY GODDAMN POSSIBLE!! AND FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST FIRE CAPERS ALREADY!! (cough) Sorry, side tracked there. Want to go 2 backs, 2 receivers and a Tight End and run a traditional West Coast Offense, feel free. Run and Shoot? Sure, why not. Wishbone? I highly doubt any of you do this but why not? Like I said, put together what ever kind of offense you want.

Similarly, absolutely no rules on defense. 3-4? 4-3? 3-3-5? 2-3-6? Whatever. Put together whatever team you think competes the best.

Whatever player you pick, you're getting at the peak of his career. So if you, just for an example, decide to take a certain former Quarterback who played most of his career in the midwest? You're getting him at his 95-96-97 MVP peak, not the guy who spent from 99 on acting like he was shaving points in 90 percent of the playoff games he competed in. (Cut to me and Snels simultaneously crying and laughing at one another)

1. Outside of Ray Guy, Shane Lechler and whoever the hell punts for you now, how many punters can you honestly name off the top of your head? However, given that I'm going to contradict myself in the very next sentence below, I'm willing to discuss adding punters and a kick/punt returner.

2 and 3. I want to do "All Time Football" not "All time best 7 on 7 practice drill"

4. I've never EVER understood this argument every time I've suggested this draft. We routinely do (and JUST completed) 40+ round wrestling drafts and if we did a movie draft it'd be 24 rounds.

Mainly because football has so many more players and positions. The other big 3 you play both offense and defense, so football doubles up to start with AND has a bigger on field number.

When I ran the baseball one, I think I had a 15 person roster. Hockey was 18. Thats 25% or so shorter. Thats less of a commitment and/or drag at the end. Plus, who wants to google Left Guards and Right Tackles, or try to differentiate between a MILB and a DT for guys who played both. (Answer, not me at least)

The movie draft is too long. I have only done one of them. Doubt I'd do another that long.

I give the Wrestling Draft a pass since it was first and is an annual thing, not a spur of the moment type. (And, If I had kept steering that ship, it was getting trimmed back to 32 a couple of years ago, because it is too long.)

Do the Fantasy Football positions, give yourself 5 or so defenders, toss in a couple of coaches, a punter or three, and boom, (TM John Madden) 16 or so rounds.

At the risk of General Manager Nate Corbitt permanently suspending me tomorrow, my mileage very much does vary in this case. I don't want this just to be "Pick the fantasy football positions". Hell, I'm already doing that draft later on this month (or as I call it "Lighting 20 bucks on fire"). I'm a football nerd, I WANT to see what different types of teams/strategies people come up with.

I'm honestly not trying to be an asshole, but really don't like this either. Again, the allure of this draft to me is picking great players and imagining how they'd mesh as a team.

It's all good by me. I'll play by whatever rules you decide on. I was just tossing out an option to consider.

Two questions:

If we're saying all-time football does that include college and non-NFL Leagues (CFL, XFL, USFL)?

Are their game limits to positions played? Let's say I draft a hall of fame guard, but he played 10 career games as a tackle. Can I use him as a tackle?

You asked two questions, so here are two answers:

1. Re reading the All Time Baseball Draft (Which I STILL Think I should have won dammit), we had players drafted from the Negro Leagues, Federal League, American Association and Japan. So yes, non NFL leagues are fair game. You want to start He Hate Me at Running Back, I'll laugh at you but be my guest.

2. If a guy played both guard and tackle, put him wherever you want. In fact, to simplify this a bit more, you don't have to specifically have a 'left guard' or 'right guard'. Just pick two guards, period. Same with tackles, same with outside backers and defensive ends, etc.

What about drafting best fantasy seasons? Something like:

You're looking at a 9-round draft with little research required, both of which would help you get more participation.

Question: do I HAVE to draft guards and tackles, or can I just draft a billion WR and play five of them on the O-Line? Or do they HAVE to had played the position I'm drafting them for?

Yes, I'm just being difficult, but I'm trying to get a sense of how structured this will be.
