Throwing this out there for next year.

If you miss a pick, your 8-hour clock goes down to 4 hours. If you miss that, you get the best player ranked by ESPN.

Thoughts?

I don't think we've ever had anyone miss more than one clock who didn't then quit the league in a huff over it, but I'd definitely be down for amending the current rule, which is far too lenient.

Out if curiosity, why don't we use the if you miss your clock, you get the best player by ESPN rankings rule?

I think it's fair to give everyone ONE pass. Life happens, you're not always reachable, I get it. I don't think you should lose control of your pick for one missed clock. Two, sure, but not one.

I would think the 8 hour clock factors in there as well. In the other C&B leagues, the pick clock is 24 hours, not just 8. Holding things up for an entire day is a lot different than just 8 hours. And it allows for the stupid overnight clock to not force a pick on you. Of course, your mileage may vary.

The issue is that 8 people could pick before you get a chance to get on the board and instead of getting the 15th ranked player, you're now getting the 23rd ranked player. That would annoy me if something happened and I was out of communication for a few hours.

We have an overnight stoppage so that shouldn't be a major issue.
