A grainy picture shows up on the screen . . . it's a clip from OO Wrestling Draft 7, back in 2014.
Back in 2018, Gail Kim comes on stage and sits down at her presser table, next to Io Shirai.
In front of the table, AJ Lee wears a White Suit of Importance and holds the microphone.
AJ Lee: Those words are no less true today than when Gail spoke them four years ago at Liberty Championship Wrestling. As a Puerto Rican woman, watching the treatment of my family's home, I find it reprehensible that my country's president thinks it is appropriate not only to call for the exclusion of immigrants from "shithole countries," but to also neglect and denigrate the needs of nonwhite people of every culture and creed.
So there is no better time to relaunch Liberty Championship Wrestling, a brand dedicated to highlighting the talents of those excluded from the spotlight for far too long. And in an era where people are finally, slowly, beginning to stand up and say "enough" to the deep misogyny of our culture, it is only fitting that Liberty relaunch as an organization by and for women. And I can think of no better trailblazing women to compete in our very first LCW World Championship Match than two women who were leaders in two of the greatest women's divisions ever - the Empress of the Knockouts, Gail Kim, and the Ace of Stardom, Io Shirai.
Oh, and I almost forgot--the best part about this new Liberty Championship Wrestling? Unlike what poor Ricky Steamboat and Eddie Guerrero had to deal with, we won't have Triple H here, pulling the strings and holding people back. In fact, I promise you that we will be staying as far away from possible from any McMahons, those dishonest, Trump-loving, money-grubbing--
Stephanie McMahon: Meet your new General Manager, bitch.
AJ Lee: For fuck's sake.

Gail: You know why there hasn’t been more minority representation in wrestling? Monopoly. When there’s one big company, everyone wants to play it safe. No one wants to try anything new. It’s competition that breeds success. Without competition, you don’t draft Jackie Robinson. Without competition, you don’t give Ron Simmons a championship match.
The problem is that people always want to define success however the big guys define it. They say they’re going to use the master’s tools to tear down the master’s house. I say build your own tools, and build your own home. You don’t need to wait for Vince or Hunter’s approval, you need to go out and make your own path.
