Ring of Honor - Restructered, Reorganized and Revitalized!!!!!!!!
Welcome to a new era in the illustrious history of Ring of Honor!!! Beginning now, Ring of Honor returns to it's roots. Technical prowess, hard hitting matchups and non stop action were the cornerstones of the early days of ROH, and will be again in the future! After careful consideration, the Ring of Honor Board of Directors have the following announcements to make prior to out grand relaunch.
First and formost, with the recent trades the have sent Rush and Kelly Klein to other organizations, both the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship and the Women of Honor Championship have been declared vacant and will be filled with a pair of 4 way Elimination matches when ROH relaunches at the Revolution Road PPV!
Next, the Board of Directors have decided that, effective immediately, The ROH Television Chapionship has been deactivated and retired! In it's place, the board has opted for the return of the Ring of Honor Pure Championship!! The Pure title was an integral component to the early success of ROH and we feel it more closely aligns with Ring of Honor's core values and mission statement. 7 elite athletes will compete in a tournament to crown a new Pure champion with the final ROH Television Champion Shane Taylor receiving a first round bye. For those unfamiliar with the Pure Champiinship, it is contested under the following special rules;
1) Each wrestler has three rope breaks to stop submission holds and pinfalls during the match. After a wrestler exhausts his rope breaks, submission and pin attempts under the ropes by the opponent are considered legal.
2) There are no closed-fist punches to the face allowed in a Pure match, only open-handed slaps or chops to the face are allowed. Punches to other parts of the body (save for low blows) are permitted. The first use of a closed fist would get a warning, and the second would cause the wrestler to be penalized a rope break. If he is already out of rope breaks, he would be disqualified.
3) A wrestler is subject to a twenty count by the referee if the wrestler goes to the floor.
4) Unlike other championships, the ROH Pure Championship can change hands on a disqualification or countout.
With Revolution Road fast approaching, stay tuned here for more announcements and late breaking developments!
