The commissioners have received inquiries regarding expansion of our league from 12 to 14 teams. The interested owners will remain anonymous for the moment. They are known individuals in the punshouse universe and/or Beer Money Movement.
The first step is discussion, followed by a vote on moving from 12 to 14 teams (assuming that we approve of the new owners).
The next step would be the application of potential owners to the league. And finally an approval vote on the new owners.
I would like to have a decision within the next week or two, so that we may begin discussions on rules changes and keepers in light of the possible expansion.
The pool of good players in the draft and on waivers is already extremely thin at 12. Throw in our incredibly generous keeper rules and how valuable good goaltending is, 14 owners would be unbearable. We’d need serious rules overhauls if we expanded to 14.

I'm less than thrilled with the idea, mostly for the reasons stated above. The player pool is already quite thin, especially at goalie. Even more so now that just about everyone is sitting on 4 of them.
I do like our current keeper rules but I'm not sure it works if we add more teams.
I'm sitting at 80% "no" at this point, but would like to hear any arguments for it before voting.
And I think we bring the keeper line WAAAAAAAAY down the board to like the 10th or so. Forces everyone to either keep guys that were drafted lower with upside OR stars who you found early and have had for a few years, but that turns over any player in no more than five years.
Limiting to three keepers (F-D-G) may render the above not as important.

Any interest in Minor League Keepers for this one like the baseball league? That's one of the things I really enjoy most about that one. Something like a 4-man roster of guys who have less than XX days on an NHL roster. Do that and drop the regular keepers to 3

This.
The one thing that is very hard to do is sit on a prospect in this league. I’ve been kicking around the idea of a reserve list to allow us to draft a popular prospect and sit on them for a few years before they become contributors.
I'm completely against any major change to keeper rules with the only possible exception being to change it from round 3 to round 5 but still being allowed to keep guys through round 2 if you have him drafted after round 5.
Would absolutely need to change the goalie rule from 4 to 3 but we'd also have to eliminate the minimum start per week rule. The one way to fix that completely, if it's possible, is to make it more like NFL defenses and you just draft a team goalies and then you'd only be able to carry 2, leaving 4 available I think.
I'd hate removing the LW/RW designations and would probably just suggest removing one utility and one defensemen and adding one general forward position. We'd be starting one less player per day, bit we can limit bench sizes if we keep IR sizes higher.
One thing, if we make major major changes, I'm not sure how into staying I would be. I like the league a lot with how it's set up and changing keeper rules drastically or major lineup/roster changes would be an issue, possibly.
I like the idea of a prospect taxi squad but that has to be delayed at least a year or two post-COVID so we see how the leagues look and what constitutes eligibility.
To sum up, mostly opposed to adding new people unless we agree on simple rule changes and tweaks but could be convinced if it makes sense.
