To be completely honest, 5 spots would really make me think twice about coming back next year. I just don’t get that. In my mind, that potentially keeps the league from being competitive.

I agree, five is just too many. We’re already adding a roster spot with the DH. If you have 5 guys on the DL, make some tough decisions. We’re talking about possibly taking anywhere from 12 (just DH) to 48 (12 DH/potentially 36 extra DL) extra names off the waiver/free agent pool. At that point, we may as well go to full 40 man rosters, counting minors. I think 4 is probably too many but it’s at least a compromise between the two options that tied and makes everyone relatively happy and we can judge if that is enough, too many, or too few after next season.

I agree with DevSop (first time since I joined the league! LOL)..

4 would be a good compromise.. As much as my roster has had the red DL icon, some of which was my decision, I'd hate to see us go 5 deep. Otherwise, his idea of a 40-man roster may be a good way to move forward. JMO

And just clarifying here: are we talking 3 live roster DL slots? Does this count the season-ending/keeper-locked DL slot?

Same. I don't think the number of the IL here should affect the season ending IL we established.
