The Dead Wrestling Society shook the Puns Wrestling Alliance to it's very core by completing two trade in the past 24 hours. Below are some excerpts from an exciting press conference held just hours ago.
Dead Wrestling Society Commissioner Deadly -
On the trades: "Yes, the DWS was sad to see the end of the women's division, not to mention the losses of both Paul Burchill and Joey Styles. However, given the assets we were able to acquire, I believe the deals made were for the greater good of the DWS."
On Shane Douglas: "Any time you can bring a franchise player and a man who helped to build promotions, you have to make that move. I am extremely excited about the directions Shane Douglas can help move this federation."
On Matt Morgan: "What can I say? The guy is a beast. I'm sure it won't take him too long to make an impact here, in DWS."
On Shane McMahon: "I've been doing a lot of research and planning to make the DWS the best possible destination for high-quality wrestling. With that said, I needed some who can be in the arena, and hell, even in the ring to make sure things go smoothly. So that's why I'm appointing Shane McMahon to the position of General Manager for the Dead Wrestling Society.'
Dead Wrestling Society NEW General Manager Shane McMahon -
On his new position: "The WCW thing was a fluke, I swear. Commissioner Deadly has put a lot of faith in me, and I'm going to make sure that the DWS is the PWA's #1 wrestling federation."
On the talent in DWS: "Look, we all know that if you want to see big names stumble around the ring, you should probably change the channel. But if you want to see the guys that are the best of the best when it comes to wrestling, there is no place like the Dead Wrestling Society."
On mixing it up in the ring: "Did you even have to ask that? Everyone knows Shane O Mac doesn't run from a fight. Again, it's my job to put out the best product I can, and if that means me getting into the ring? Oh, you know I'm there."
More announcements and comments are sure to follow. What a groundbreaking day for the Dead Wrestling Society! Stay tuned for more information as soon as it becomes available.
The Dead Wrestling Society roster, as it stands now:
DWS Commissioner: Deadly
DWS General Manager: Shane McMahon
A.J. Styles C.M. Punk Shane Douglas The Murder City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) The Briscoe Brothers (Jay and Mark Briscoe) Matt Morgan Jack Evans El Generico Chris Hero "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal Takeshi Morishima Arrogance (Scott Lost and Chris Bosh) Amazing Red Perro Aguayo Jr. Super Dragon CIMA
I think you seriously over-picked that Arrogance team nobody has heard of, and could have just as easily have waited till round 38. But other than that, it's a strong roster with a distinct personality.
Yeah, I'm sure I reached there, but the guys actually fit quite well in terms of style. Probably could have waited a while on them, but if I remember correctly, I was at a loss as to who to pick, and I knew they would fit so I pulled the trigger.
Thanks for the feedback. I look forward to hearing more as this thing continues. And I hope I am doing Shane some justice, so thanks for the good words.
I disagree, Serge. He might have been able to wait a little while but there are PWG fans here and at least one person has expressed disappointment to see them go to me.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.
I was surprised to see Arrogance go where they did, but on the flip side I can guarantee you that they wouldn't have made it to round 38. We'd have nabbed them in the 20's.
Shane McMahon has called a special meeting involving every member of the Dead Wrestling Society. Let's go there now, live!
Shane: Fellow DWS members, it has come to my attention that there are rumblings among a few of you regarding my position here. Some of you may not like the fact that my last name is McMahon. Some of you may not like my position of power. Hell, some of you may just think I have a punch-able face. Regardless, it is my job to ensure that this organization is run smoothly. In order to make sure that happens, without any kind of interference from the few of you who take offense to my position, I'm bringing in someone to watch my back. I give you.....Bob "The Beast" Sapp!
Shane: And for those of you still not convinced...
Shane: That's just a warning. Hopefully it doesn't need to go any further than that. You guys enjoy the rest of your day.
[The camera pans through the group of wrestlers, stop on one familiar and not-too-pleased face...]
We are LIVE here backstage at DWS headquarters! Many things are being planned for the big opening show and it seems....hold on. It looks as if "The Franchise" Shane Douglas is in serious talks with someone. Let's try and get the scoop....
[Shane Douglas has his back to the camera with his head poking through a door. He is talking to someone on the other side, but we can't see who, exactly, it is.]
Shane: ...know where I'm coming from. Look, I helped create the business, and this little punk has done nothing but destroy it. He's already lining up an army, and I need to know that you are ready when the time comes. I need to make sure...[Shane notices the camera behind him]...What the fuck? You'd better get your ass as far away from here as possible, right now!
[Shane lets the door shut and grabs at the camera. Fortunately, the camera is able to pick up one final blurred image of whoever was behind the door before it is closed completely.]
We're here again LIVE at DWS headquarters, where General Manager Shane McMahon is expected to announce some of the upcoming matches for the Dead Wrestling Society's first pay-per-view, "Retribution". We are just waiting for the General Manager to arrive and...wait...what's that? Apparently a fight has broken out! Let's go there now!
[The cameras cut to Shane Douglas standing over someone, throwing punch after punch.]
Douglas: You don't deserve what you've been given! I am the man the builds organizations! I am The Franchise!
[The camera zooms in and we see that it's none other than Shane McMahon that is taking the beating! Then, out of nowhere, Bob Sapp spears the hell out of Shane Douglas!]
This is getting out of hand, folks. We are going to need some security to...
[Just then Matt Morgan clotheslines Sapp viciously! Shane O Mac is back on his feet and all four men are going at it!]
This is just chaos! Someone needs to break this up!
[Suddenly, Douglas motions off camera and B-Boy and Kenny Omega join in and turn in into a 4 on 2 beatdown.]
It seems as though Shane Douglas has been more active in recruiting than we thought!
[McMahon and Sapp are reeling, until Jay Lethal and Chris Hero make the save!]
It's now turned into a 4 on 4 brawl! The whole place is being destroyed!
[Eventually security is able to pull apart the two groups, but not before a final staredown between Shane McMahon and Shane Douglas.]
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, I am getting word that Shane McMahon has already made changes to the card, and we can expect the full lineup for "Retribution" as soon the last pick for Dead Wrestling Society has been made. Stay tuned!
I was under the impression that McMahon was the heel and thus Sapp, Lethal, and Hero are heels. Douglas is the "face" and Morgan, B-Boy, and Omega are with him.
Of course Douglas as a face weirds me out too so whatcha gonna do?
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.
That was fun. But yeah, I can't tell at all who I'm supposed to be rooting for.
Still, good stuff.
Dev: HHH of all people gets turned face big-time after all of the evil shit his character pulled (and a lot of fans don't much care for the things they believe he does backstage either) and just coming back from a leg injury turned him huge face.
How in the hell do you figure Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr coming back from the dead to entertain us all again was supposed to work as a heel team? (At first, anyway.)
At this point, I'm not trying to push anyone to root for one side or the other. Each Shane represents a different approach when it comes to the wrestling business, so you are free to choose whichever side you wish.
I guess he presumed (like I was) that we were using all our best suspension of disbelief to avoid the idea that people have been brought back from the dead. Lord knows I'm not expecting Pillman to be cheered because he's alive and the fans are just happy to see that.
Nor am I counting on the fans despising Benoit because he murdered his son.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.
I mean, I would definitely want to erase that from Benoit if I'm going to use him, there's no good way to go with that.
Regardless of returning from the dead or not, I'm not interested in doing the Los Gringos Locos gimmick just as it was, partly because I don't want to run a promotion catering specifically to Mexicans (which that gimmick is tailored for specifically) and I don't want to erase the whole second half of Eddie's career, when he became one of the most beloved wrestlers around, and almost impossible to turn heel.
He had to work HARD to turn on Mysterio, and despite every evil thing he did in that feud, the turn didn't last long. The fans were getting restless to cheer him again by the end.
(Sorry for hi-jacking your thread, Deadly. Dev started it!)
I think you just have to live with the fact that a lot of us uncomfortable with a classic heel team as faces. Although to be honest Black Tiger still irks me more. But I suspect we'll all make some booking decisions others don't care for and we'll get more of this. Dev and I have gone back and forth over how some of our booking ideas irk each other and this started by our apparent shared confusion over who the faces are in Dead's fed and why he'd book one of them as a face.
A federation of tweeners fits more with the characters but feels a bit iffy. But its like post 3 into Dead's story development.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.
