As much reverence as I have for the classics I know Ocarina stands as a much better representation of Zelda than the original, just as I'm glad Super Mario World got here instead of Super Mario Brothers. The Super Mario World vs Ocarina of Time battle would be a fine case of the best representatives of 2 classic franchises facing off instead of just SMB vs Zelda when both games were clearly improved with advanced technology and creativity.

Yeah, as much as I love the Zelda franchise and even though much of that love comes from the things that this original version did, I can't in good conscience vote it above SMW, particularly when I just compare the two games to each other and try not take into account the other games in either franchise. It's also tough because we're really comparing apples to warm apple pie here as one was NES and the other SNES.

And I agree with Lucky that SMW vs. Ocarina is definitely the better matchup, which we certainly have the possibility of seeing in the finals. Honestly this version of Zelda would be much better suited to be competing against Super Mario Bros. But since it's not, Super Mario World wins this.
