How about a one stop home for those pesky questions about your fantasy teams or gloating about your drafts. You know, those times you really want to ask if someone if this trade makes sense to you... or really love the draft you pulled off and want to show it to someone... but you know, reallly... no one cares about your fantasy team. Well go ahead and post it here anyway.
So lets start off with a Keeper Question. 5 keepers, 12 team league. Basic league setup but OPS and Quality Starts included. No cost, no limits on who you can keep.
Tim Lincecum and Miguel Cabrera are locks. Brian Roberts seems like he should be a lock too. That leaves me two spots.
Matt Cain probably has one of those. Keeping half the Giants SP rotation won't help my W-L much but QS makes them a bit more valuable. Cain was 17th in baseball in 2008 and 11th in 2007. So he looks like he should be in.
That leaves one spot and odds are that goes to 1 of my trio of OFers. Alfonso Soriano, Alex Rios, and Nick Markakis. Now... Soriano is the instinctive reaction and he's the highest in every ranking I can find but he's also had a couple of rough years health wise and is the oldest of the bunch. I'm trying to figure out if I'm crazy passing on him for one of the other two. I've actually seen Markakis called one of the best players in baseball but his mediocre power doesn't quite excite me. Rios on the other hand had 32 SB to his name last season, but it was the first time he did that so no real guarantee he repeats it. Markakis is 25, Rios 28, and Sori 33. Sori's probably declining, Rios is probably in his prime, but Markakis might improve. So I'm really leaning towards Markakis or Rios here, but I'm trying to find some kind of ranking that tells me I'm not crazy.
Its a keeper league so hanging onto a 24 year old who was on the brink of a top 10 OFer last season might make most sense.
So what say you? Anyone got a strong opinion? Anyone think one of the prior 4 should be nixed?
No one else on the roster is really worth considering. Chris Young (SP) is the closest but injury concerns are enough to brush him off, I think. Bedard's a question mark. Clayton Kershaw isn't there yet. Matt Garza doesn't have the Ks.
