Ok, so I think these are my revamped teams. I guess I have 20 hours or so to change my mind but I think I'm more or less good.


Basically the same team as before but Terrific got bumped up and Raven's in. She gives the team a bit of power and a useful teleportation ability. And I think she and Monet would have some real conflict with some similar powers and VERY different personalities. I don't see them getting along.


This one is a little silly but a strong team, I think. So the idea is Canary is the leader but Red Arrow is kind of the star of the book. He's a bigger dog than his best buddy Nightwing so a team with beautiful women should be right up his alley. Echo's got sex appeal and I see the two of them being drawn to each other while Supergirl's got a lot of spunk. I basically see lots of flirtation between them. But then to complicate it you have Canary, Arrow's surrogate mother, and Donna, a former lover and his oldest female acquaintance. And the laugh is that the one dude Arrow has to confide in is a happily married robot. Of course I like the team too. Its about half power and half skill with an expert marksman and a ninja. Two powerful women in Donna and Supergirl and another powerful player in Tornado, who also adds a computer aspect.


Terrific gets his own team and I'm sort of stealing the Hawkman/Britain vibe from Stu. Terrific's gonna play it... well, fair and Catman's going to be a valued asset. He's clearly the best fighter on the team and a strong tactician. But he's also more than willing to take the extra step when necessary and I see that providing some conflict. Meanwhile the team is made up of people who can go either way. They're all pretty straight laced but at the same time Flash was a member of the JLElite, Hawkgirl is a warrior born, and Jade was an Outsider so they've all seen the worth of going a little darker at times. So I can see the team seeing both sides of a Terrific/Catman debate and going either way. Particularly I see Hawkgirl and Wildfire leaning towards Catman and Flash and Jade towards Terrific.

Again, its a talented team too. A genius in Terrific. Flash speaks for himself. Catman's one of the most skilled fighters and trackers around. Wildfire's at near Superman power and Jade has the power of a Green Lantern. And Hawkgirl's just a tank. I think this is my most powerful team in a fight.



I like these teams. I don't know if they're any good or if they'll win anything, but I like them. That's a huge step up on Thor Girl and redheads. I can live with losing with teams I at least like.

And it occurs to me that I just built 3 teams of Outsiders so I'm pretty much tempted to name them Nightwing's Outsiders, Canary's Outsiders, and Terrific's Outsiders.

OK so I think I got my teams figured out. Might need help with coming up wiht nice rosters as I'm confused a little as how to do it and it's been a little buzy today at work (finally).

So here it goes:

Team Locate: Jack Hawksmoor (leader), Sage, Nightcrawler, Azrael, Cyblade and Hyperion.

Team Hunt: Cable (leader), Deadpool (thinks he leads), Maverick, Sunfire, Aurora and Colossus

Team Take Down: Magneto (he thinks he leads and he does), Deathblow, Bishop, Sabertooth, Zealot and Juggernaut.

I think hey can all hold their own in a fight, but have different specialties as you can get by the team names. I changed Nightcrawler for Bishop as I figured Lucas Bishop could better handle the difficult personnalities of Team Take Down.

So please, fire away as I don't want to finish last in this thing and it's been a while since I followed comics. Although this thing is getting me interested once again.

First off, those portrait-oriented avs look fucking awesome. God damn you!

I really loved your original Outsiders team, and I'm sad you changed it, but I can understand the hope that Terrific can add more to a team as leader than taking him out of the Outsiders costs.

I thought that Echo was a rotten replacement for him--she didn't add anything in the "bad girl" dept that isn't already supplied by Spider-Woman and M, and she didn't add anything in the "great hand-to-hand fighter" dept that you don't already have with Nightwing. Raven is a much better choice. She is one of the best "bringer of mysterious portents" characters out there. Would have taken her myself, except that I've got the very best one--Phantom Stranger.

I don't know if the current lineup is quite as awesome as the original one. But it's close. I don't love your other two teams, but they're better than they were, even if that's not saying much.

I think that it's important to think about the strategy of multiple teams: which is better, three teams that can survive a round or two, or two first-round eliminations and one team that could easily make the finals?

Then again, my teams are pretty balanced. Not so much by plan as because my highest profile drafts wouldn't have fit well together. I just can't picture The Thing and Cyclops on the same team, y'know?

It's all about making the team more than the sum of its parts. Personally I love my Rogue Stars just about as much as my two higher-profile teams. They're a fun group that would have chemistry I think.

Yeah, I dig my avs. Yours are great but I like getting a better look, plus it allows me to find the art I like. And something about the long tall images is more visually appealing to me than the blocks you and I use for the boards. Its not a format that works for what you were doing but I just think it looks more... I don't know... real? Like something you'd see in Wizard or on the backpage of a comic to advertise a new series.

And they look way better than those cruddy and cheesy group photos I did before where I was too lazy to do them right.

And yeah, I know I could have just taken my best 6 and made 1 big team. My next best 6 and made a 2nd team. Left the 3rd team to lose. But fuck it. I've never won one of these things and its never much bothered me when I lose. I was resigned to losing yesterday with teams that blew ass. So who cares? Make the team I like. I'd read those books. At the very least Canary and Nightwing. If that doesn't show up in the showdown results, so be it. At least I can go down having satisfied myself. Thai was nice enough to suggest a number of formats to me of my teams and they were all good... I just didn't like them personally. They weren't books I'd read even if I recognized that they might be books others would. Jean Grey and Spider-Girl were probably better draws than Canary and Jade but ultimately? I like the latter more. So fuck it. Half my people were taken off the scrap heap anyway, so expectations are low.

I had the most fun in the last 24 hours that I've had in any of these things since like 8 months ago in the wrestling one. I'm satisfied with that. Kudos to Fish and Serg for doing the work. I think that 8 month realization is what convinced me to sit out the music draft and just sit back a couple of months until we redo the wrestling thing.

Nah, I don't think that would have worked for you. Your strongest six would have just been the Titans. And while the Titans are undoubtedly an awesome team, you would have lost creativity points for just doing a reunion.

I was just questioning whether Terrific was really doing as much for his own team as he had been doing for Nightwing's. 'Cause at first glance Terrific's team just seemed like a random hodge-podge of characters with no reason to be together. But they're starting to grow on me.

You probably aren't doing it on purpose, since you're not a League guy, but Terrific's team has a real next-gen Justice League feel to it. Flash, Jade, and Hawkgirl being obvious younger versions of the classic original league, and then Wildfire could be thought of as filling the Firestorm slot. And then Batman is split in half--Catman is the badass hand-to-hand fighter, while Terrific is the ten-steps-ahead-of-you strategic genius.

Yup, Terrific's team is definitely growing on me. Canary's not so much.

I'm not expecting them to, honestly. I hope I get at least one of them to the second round, though. And I think 5 Pets & A Jew could be a matchup problem for a poorly crafted team.

Regardless of how I do in the showdown, this has been fun! Like I said before, my only core knowledge was 90's Marvel.
