Coming from the New Avengers, everyone needs a ninja.
Echo (Maya Lopez) aka Ronin
Straight from the 31st Century, Lou's favorite Legionaire and mine.
Wildfire (Drake Burroughs)
And the guy DC took from a nothing buffoon Batman ripoff into a total badass over the course of one mini series. If this was 2 years ago I have to think he would have been drafted, but maybe I missed something since then.
I'm assuming this is allowed since I don't see anything to suggest it isn't. I'm gonna go and nab someone who was dropped.
Terrific got bumped up to his own team so Nightwing's down a man. I was going to drop Echo in there but I like another spot for her. Nightwing can call on an old Titan partner (and of course, someone he hooked up with). Teleportation is a nifty tool to have as is telepathy. Her and Monet should have a nice little rivalry going.
I'm also gonna add someone who was brought up to me yesterday but for a different role than suggested. He's a tank, powerful, and good with computers being one himself.
I'm dropping Siryn & Jesse Quick/Liberty Belle. I love Jesse and I think she's a real potential powerhouse but I don't see her helping me. And while I like Siryn I really only drafted her for the dumb redhead idea and since he daddy was never taken I think that speaks poorly on her chances to help me. Besides, best idea I had was some weird bonding with Canary over the sound powers.
Here are some awesome guys that somebody ought to add, because they're awesome, and it's a damn shame nobody drafted them.
One of the all-time classic characters. The original comic book for grown-ups.
A really popular character, and a great plain-talking tank with the tragic reluctant-hero twist.
In the same vein, there's also the Doom Patrol's Robot Man:
And then there's Animal Man.
A devoted family man who can draw on the power of animals. When he was stranded in space he tapped into the abilities of the Sun Eaters to get home. Also, he knows he's in a comic book.
First, a cool as hell costume. Second, the first blind superhero, predating DD by decades. So you'd get handicapped parking. And thirdly, he's a medical doctor. That's bound to come in handy in his line of work.
Man, I could go on and on. I could totally fill in another three teams.
Demko: I've thought about it, and I think that three hand-to-hand combat guys is one too many on Golden team. Out of Batman, Flash Gordon, and the Phantom, I think the Phantom is clearly the weakest link. If you want my advice, I think you should replace him with a magic guy. The Golden Age has a bunch of them, and I think that adding that element would really flesh out your team. You're main options...
A Fate was drafted, but not the original, Kent Nelson. However, cool as Fate is, the lack of uniqueness would hurt him I think.
The very first magician hero--some would call him the first superhero. The inspiration for a bazillion knock-offs.
One of those knock-offs was really cool, though...
Unlike the hypnotic Mandrake, or the vaguely-defined mystic might of Fate, Zatara can do almost anything imaginable that he commands in backwards speech. This made for some amazing visuals, and made it very difficult to plot a threat deadly enough to challenge him.
In contrast with Zatara, Occult would be a much more down-to-earth mystical choice--rather than a powerful magician, Occult is a occult-expert detective with a few tricks up his sleeve from his years of fighting supernatural evil, like TV's Agent Mulder or a Lovecraftian hero. Created by the team that went on to create Superman, so he looks a lot like the Golden-Age Superman, (and Jor-El, and Slam Bradley, and all of the heroes Joe Schuster drew)--so that's a plus.
I thought for sure Gator would pick the Impossible Man for his wacky team, for some reason. And I completely forgot about the Maxx.
Along with Terrific, Falcon, Monet, and Cyborg I had this long list of guys I was considering for my black team before Thai grabbed Isiah Bradley and I realized he had a kick ass team I couldn't compete with. They're mostly all pretty mediocre though. Black Lightning, Misty Knight, Nighthawk (the Supreme Power Batman), Rage of the New Warriors, Night Thrasher, The Patriot of the Young Avengers, and Bloodwynd. The best combo I could come up with was Terrifc, Falcon, Monet, Lightning, Cyborg, and Misty and I was real close to doing that.
Speaking of Misty, I kept really wanting to take her with Colleen Wing as the Daughters of the Dragon and briefly had them as the final 2 members of Nightwing's team (Knight & Wing hahahahaha) but I kept telling myself no one would have a clue who Wing is. I was also going to maneuver onto a team with Jean for awhile because after Jean died (the 2nd time, I think) Cyclops totally hit that.
