I'd go with Option 1...simple is always easier.

Although, if it winds up being straight showdowns, we're going to need a clean number so that they fit into tournament format well.

So I guess thats multiples starting with 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64...etc...32 teams would be pretty damn awesome and maybe spread out the draft enough where people don't have to check the draft out every 12 seconds...I was personally burned out a bit by the end of this last year after approx. 1200 views of that page...lol.

I guess we could also do 3 card matchups if we need different multiples: 3, 6, 12, 24, 48. 24 gives the option for a closer number of Feds to what we had last year which was a pretty good number...we'd just have to do triple threat showdowns the whole way...or if we have a weird number, maybe we start with triple threats and end with 1 on 1s...I dunno...I guess I just made it more complicated.

As long as I'm still around here by then, I'd def want to do it again. Now I have a much better idea of what to expect.

Also, I agree with the no tag team rule that has been brought up. 1 player per round just makes things more clear and will make values of certain people much more interesting.

Not so sure about the announcer rule. Maybe a rule where its mandatory but you can't take one till the 15th round will make it still more about the wrestlers than the extracurriculars. I wouldn't be in favor of an authority figure being mandatory because as your draft goes down and you start figuring out what you want to do, who you might want in an authority position might change and maybe itll be one of the people you drafted...etc...plus if it's an only 1 card situation, a power figure isn't necessarily that important.

Hey, I like the announcers and other non-wrestling personas being relegated to a later round, because it gives the draft another '1st round pick' vibe. And if anyone wants to ignore the extracurriculars, they can keep drafting their 15th-or-so round picks.

Ok, here's the deal. If you guys want to set up some kind of "you can't draft announcers/nonwrestlers until the X round" then I say scrap the idea all together. Its stupid. Such a rule completely ignores the entire point of a draft. The point of a draft is to weigh the available talent and your needs vs the demand and try and construct a roster that does it with the picks you have. That's the flaw in these things in my mind, as a sports drafter. There's no actual needs. Its just picking your favorites. That's one step away from making a list and that's the most self indulgent and worthless part of most messageboards.

IF we do a mandatory 2 announcers then it should just be in the random mix. If you feel you need a Gordon Solie or Jim Ross? Then you have to decide where you take him. Of course you rather take a wrestling talent in the 7th Rd but of Solie and JR just went then maybe you're sitting there thinking "I need to take X now or else I'll get a scrub." Or you decide to just take your chances later because you decide a wrestler is worth more. THAT'S part of drafting and that's largely absent in these.

And hey, I know that my silly "roster spots" idea with the hero draft was doomed to be rejected because people didn't want to do that. And if no one wants to do the announcers here? Fine. But there's absolutely point in doing some stupid expansion draft for announcers. Because really, who cares? Once you decide that announcers are so marginalized that they shouldn't even be part of the draft then why even bother with them? You're just going to have the same results where the first few guys get the legends and everyone else is picking up scrubs. But now there was NEVER any strategy or game involved. It was simply a matter of where your pick was. So why bother?

So I see zero point in even bothering with the announcers if we want to relegate them to some separate idea. Either include 2 mandatory spots you have to fill anytime between the first and last round or ignore it all together. Because if you do that midway than all we're saying is that they don't matter so why waste time with them later? I want them in because i think it adds a new wrinkle and challenge, but if we're just going to do that same retarded 2 round post draft draft again? I thought that thing was remarkably stupid at the time and I see zero reason to repeat it.

The power figure was just another little wrinkle/challenge I liked. Just something to throw in. If you want to wait to the last 3 rounds to fill those spots, so be it, but maybe you want to go higher because you think having Vince, JR, and Solie will help your card. But I acknowledge that it might be pointless and I acknowledge that its possible no one really wants more challenges/wrinkles in these things except me. So yeah, all or nothing in my book. Throw in the wrinkles and do them right or don't bother at all.
