Well, apparently it's true, he's coming back. From what I just glanced at on the Torch. I guess all that Bret Hart talk from Dennis Miller this past Monday wasn't all just smoke. They believe he'll make his return on Jan 4th, to go up against TNA's opening monday night. I want to hope for the best and that maybe Bret's appearance will lead to the start of better overall storyline(s) from the fed, especially with some monday night competition. However, Bret in the same ring with Vince after all these years will definitely be a sight to be seen.

You do realize it's not TNA's "opening night" right? It's a one night thing.

No, I was unaware of that. I thought they were going legit to Monday night. I have been out of the loop, and obviously missed the part that it was a one shot deal for them being on Monday night. Is it a teaser? For Spike to see if TNA can bring in a respectable rating? I try to catch TNA, but I usually end up FF'd through most of it.

It depends on who you listen to. Hogan will have you believe that he's going to be TNA's savior and he will lead them to victory in the Monday Night Wars II. Dixie Carter is saying (at least publicly), that this is just a one time special. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Like what you suggested, I think it's sort of a jumping off point to see what kind of rating they can pull on a Monday.

Personally, I would love to have some competition to make WWE step up their game. If they are going to get Bret Hart just for this one show, I'd love to see what happens when they finally have someone going up against them again.

Amid speculation that Bret Hart is in talks to return to World Wrestling Entertainment to host an upcoming edition of WWE RAW, it now appears Bret Hart's involvement with WWE will extend well beyond a 1-night appearance.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has signed a short-term talent contract with WWE that goes into effect on January 1, 2010 and runs until April 10th, approximately two weeks after WrestleMania 26.

There has been talk of talk of Hart returning to the ring
for one match, but that is still speculation at this point.

Although nothing is official, he is expected to debut on the January 4 Raw show that will go head-to-head with TNA's Monday Night iMPACT! special.

Well, tonight's the night. For me, personally, this may very well be one of the final Mark Out moments in a long career of watching wrestling. As I've gotten older, all the wrestlers I used to follow are either dead, retired, or Vince has a problem with them and vice versa. It's obviously me getting older, but sadly, the next generation in the assembly line just hasn't cut it for me. I think the last time I really marked out for a moment on tv was when Joey Styles went ape shit bananas on the WWE. That was great, and I felt the goose bumps and hairs stand up on my neck. I know seeing Bret Hart on tv tonight should do the same thing, but it's how you capture that feeling/energy and utilize it to ride the wave of emotion and shock. Over the years they've always played Bret's music as a joke or a tease. Even now the first time I heard the New Hart Foundation music, I thought for a moment that it was Bret. The only other Mark Out Moment would be a return to the ring by The Rock or one last Stone Cold match. I don't think Stone Cold will ever happen, and with Dwayne Johnson churing out movies, I doubt that will happen either.

Besides Bret being there, it was basically the same product that we've been geting for the past few years.

Even Bret being there was underwhelming.

"The Hug" was awkward and stupid and too soon to be believable. They have 3 months to make up, take the whole three months and they have a meaningful, logical, believable non-awkward hug at Wrestlemania.

When Vince said "I nominate Stu for the HoF" the reasons and means by which Bret agreed to do this became very clear to me.

Vince taking away the microphones at the end of their segment seemed to surprise Bret, but I'd bet Vince didn't want any 'extra unplanned' stuff to happen.

So basically, I didn't miss much.

Watched some TNA a bit (maybe 45 minutes). I really don't get the ring shape... but the rest seemed OK.
I've been reading a little OOver there and my take on Nasty Boys, Hall and Walterman (or however you spell that name) being there is just so Hogan can fire them in a week or two for not delivering the goods and not bringing anything new. My two cents but I've been out of the wrestling thing for 5 years or so...

I dunno. I'm being kinda cranky maybe, but it was a lot of build up. Like twelve years.

I think Bret, Shawn, and Vince did their parts well, and what they actually SAID was fine. Just rushed. Don't have Shawn/Bret 'make up' all in one night.

Vince kicking Bret I thought was actually perfect. Bret "cheap shotted" him after the 'incident' so Vince cheap-shotting Bret makes sense to 'even things up' in Vince-logic.

It just was not an 'execution of excellence' IMO

I'm a "meh" also about the whole thing. I wasn't really feeling the electricity I felt when there's been other past MarK Out moments. It was great to see Bret again, but then again, he just looked like the stroke and the numerous family tragedies have taken their toll on Bret. Hair, beer belly, etc. But then again, he's been out of wrestling for years and had a friggin stroke. So, with that being taken in consideration, he did well. I was flipping back and forth to each show(Styles vs Angle main event was awesome, btw), but after the "hug", I noticed that HBK was doing some "acting" and "obvious foreshadowing" of the hug not sitting well with him either. I liked seeing Bret's shit eating grin again, smiling and listening, but knowing that he's the one who's right. Bret will be back soon, if not next week. The payoff will be Vince in the Sharpshooter. It did just seem rushed. Vince could have chicken shitted his way out of the arena before face to facing Bret. "I've got an urgent meeting in Greenich with the Board Members."

And jesus, I seriously had thought Saggs of the Nasty Boys had died a few years ago. Obviously not, and I didn't think Knobbs could even walk anymore. Did Brutus Beefcake pop up too? And Fat Scott Hall just looks awful.

I thought it was incredibly underwhelming. Don't have much more to say than that.

And Habsy, give TNA's ring a chance. After you watch a few matches for a couple weeks, it's as if it's the most normal thing in the world. Especially for the X-Division guys.

Yeah, the six sided ring is great. Some of the Mexican promotions have been using it long before TNA started.
