A word as to why I like the Vulture character (which also speaks to the team): Adrian Toomes has everything working against him. He's a mortal man, and any slight advances he has in flight or fighting ability come from hard work and technology (like Batman--except he makes his own shit). He's an elderly man, meaning everything comes that much harder. He's been afflicted with cancer, let down by teams he's aligned himself with again and again, and still pushes forward.

Does he always come out on top? No. Neither do most of these guys with some exceptions (Prof. Zoom and Cold scored some major victories, with Cold actually killing the Flash). But they fight through their limitations through science and willpower. I kind of like that.

I find Skullfuckers to be a compelling team though, if rabidly disorganized. :-)

I mean, sure. He's beaten Spider-Man on many individual occasions (example) even if he never chooses to kill him. He also is pretty good at bumping off other villains who wrong him, as when he oversees the death of most of New York's crime bosses. (Wiki)

But yeah, unless the only victory would be killing Spider-Man, Vulture has a fine record. To quote Spidey: "For somebody who's begging to die, you fight for life pretty hard."

Secret War Gamers is awesome. That would be a hit TV show right now and could totally be a real comic that I'd read. The potential for that is tremendous and that's a really excellent example of finding a way to make a team of 6 super villains work.

Skullfuckers is sadly the perfect example of what I envisioned 6 villains being teamed together to be. 6 monster with no remote sense of team unity and no possible reason they'd even pretend to work together. Hell, Carnage and Hobgoblin already betrayed each other once, didn't they? Or was that Demogoblin? Regardless... total mess for me and that's one of those teamups I imagine comic companies doing because they can't think of a good story and you know exactly how the story would go as they'll have a few issues of success before they all turn on each other and the heroes beat them because of their teamwork. And two of them will be found knocked out/near death from fighting each other without the heroes having to throw more than one punch.

Sorry, Gator. Mortal Assassins lacks name power but actually works for me as a group of hired guns who have plenty of good reason to work together.

This is absolutely true, and when it comes to voting, we might have to simply assume that each team had a legitimate reason for forming in the first place. The cohesiveness of the unit after that (i.e., overlapping powers, conflicting egos, and so forth) would still factor in. A team of all "leaders" simply wouldn't work, for example.

Part of the reason I didn't play was because I didn't have the time to devote to really making it work. And I appreciate that you, Fish, or others might be cool with just saying "fuck it, lets toss 6 cool guys together" but for me its still about assembling a team so that's how I'm going to vote. If Fish wants to tell me that's no good I'll retract my votes but its the only way I can really picture these teams is by imagining them in a comic book and imagining how it would play out.

Just giving ya a hard time with that, Lucky (and trying to leverage at least ONE of my teams into Round 2). I've known from the beginning that people will vote how they wanna vote no matter what. I really wanted Carnage for some reason, and I knew I was probably pigeonholing him into a team like this. I really have no idea what other kind of team he'd work on.

And it was Demogoblin in the Maximum Carnage crossover.
