Action Comics #3
positives: The story seems to be picking up it's pace. The art is crisp.
negatives: It feels really negative. I'm not sure I can get behind this whole "no one likes superman" thing they are doing.
overall: Not a bad series, but not one that I feel the need to keep reading. It could use more action.
Animal Man #3
positives: A nice creepy tale. The whole family of a superhero dynamic is fun to read.
negatives: Some times the art can be too strange, distracting from the story.
overall: I like this series. It is something different that I have been drawn into.
Batwing #3
positives: The painted look of the book is quite enjoyable. The insight into Batwings mind is intriguing.
negatives: The characters are still relatively unknown, some more background info being revealed would be nice.
overall: A fun read that I find myself enjoying. Very beautiful art.
Detective Comics #3
positives: Action packed. Good story progression.
negatives: I'm not sure having the dollmaker connected to the joker this soon is a smart move for a new villain. Especially one that is similar to joker.
overall: I enjoyed the issue, but don't know if this is a series I will continue to keep up with.
Green Arrow #3
positives: They wrap up the first story with an action packed victory that has a good moral message. They also show that everyone doesn't respond well to that, which is nice.
negatives: Can be a wee bit too preachy at times.
overall: It's a solid superhero read, but nothing about it really stands out. One of the more middle of the pack series.
Hawk and Dove #3
positives: I got nothing
negatives: The characters and story don't interest me. I still don't care for Liefelds art.
overall: Some people may enjoy this, but for me it just does not click.
Justice League International #3
positives: The interactions between the characters is fun. The art is quite enjoyable as well.
negatives: I'm hoping batman leaves the team when this arc is finished, as him being there seems forced.
overall: A fun series with a good mix of action/humour. I'm quite enjoying it.
Men of War #3
positives: It captures the feel of the military special ops groups rather well.
negatives: It would do better to focus on one longer story rather than two shorter ones.
overall: Not for me. Military buffs may like it.
O.M.A.C. #3
positives: Nope
negatives: this throwback Kirby style is not good.
overall: This series is just hulk light, and not very good at that.
Red Lanterns #3
positives: Seeing the story of what were originally just raging madmen play out is quite a fun ride. Bleez is quite an intriguing character
negatives: I do wish they would do more with the red lantern powers rather then just stabbing/slashing people. They need to do more with the whole flaming blood vomit.
overall: A fun fast paced read, that has set up some interesting conflict for the future.
Static Shock #3
positives: The story moves along at a good pace. The dialogue feels natural
negatives: The art quality seems to be decreasing with each issue. The joker/killer croc light combo of backup villains don't seem very interesting.
overall: Not a bad series, but not really good either. If it's a take it or leave it situation, I would choose to leave it.
Stormwatch #3
positives: It is full of big time action.
negatives: The authority characters feel watered down from what they where before.
overall: It's not bad, but I enjoyed both Martian Manhunter and the Authority for what they were before the reboot, and just can't seem to latch onto this new version of them.
Swamp Thing #3
positives: The story has started to pick up. It has managed to create something new while still using what has come before.
negatives: Sometimes the art just seems to lose it's focus, but that may be intentional.
overall: Not a bad read, and I've enjoyed this issue more than the first two. I may have to keep giving this series a look.
