Yes... I'm still alive and doing this on BOTH boards. Here's the Sydney qualifier in progress... I've got to simulate one more round, but it should be coming up soon...
After a long hiatus, we're BACK with another round. Our first match pits the Bushwhackers against Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles. Daniels kept on complaining about slow counts, which helped... he pinned Luke with a backdrop in 14:34. 1.75 stars.
Next up is a match of Old School versus New School... Ray Stevens and Pat Patterson versus Shannon Moore and Super Crazy. Patterson nearly won with a Figure Four on Super
Crazy, but Moore made the save. It was all for naught, however, as Pat Patterson won it when he countered a
rana into a Tiger Driver. 25:43 and 3.5 stars.
Next up is a match that promises not to disappoint... the Mega Powers of Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage against the Hart Brothers, Owen and Bret. Move of the night: "Owen Hart tells
the crowd he's not a nugget!" Bret locks Savage into the Sharpshooter at 2 minutes, but Savage breaks it after 41 seconds. Bret ends up winning this one in quick fashion when he counters a clothesline from the Macho Man into a crucifix at 4:52. 2.75 stars.
***
Today we've got two classic WWF teams against each other... The Bushwhackers versus the Mega Powers. Hogan and Savage go down again after the Bushwhackers hit Hogan with the Battering Ram and then Luke puts him into a clawhold. 18:35, negative 1.5 stars.
Styles and Daniels are up next against Shannon Moore and Super Crazy. Flippy Shit ensues, Earl Hebner goes down, Hebener gets up after Styles hits the Styles Clash on Super Crazy, three count, 16:46, three stars.
Our final match pits Ray Stevens and Pat Patterson against the Brothers Hart. Bret won after hitting Pat Patterson with a German in 23:16, 3.25 stars.
***
Hogan and Savage start us out against the Fallen Angel and AJ Styles. The Powers both went for the finish near the fifteen minute point and both failed to connect. Styles capitalized on that with a series of attacks that culminated in the Styles Clash on Savaage.... OH YEAH that's a pin for three. 3.25 stars and 21:49.
The Reject and The Insane Luchador bring us to the midpoint of this round, hoping to get a win against the Harts. Moore tries to gain an early advantage by cheapshotting Bret
before the bell rings, but Bret immediately recovered. Crazy and Moore get their first win at the expense of Owen, who was pinned after Shannon Moore hit him with a flying leg drop. 3.5 stars, 13:34.
The Blonde Bombers are up next, going after The Bushwhackers.
Jim Ross: "Y'know, there's a reason why they call Ray Stevens the Crippler. Ask Pat Patterson, he'll be sure to tell you about it."
After all was said and done, Stevens is the one that got the crippling... Luke successfully hit the Battering Ram 25:39. Two stars.
***
Our next match pits the high-flying team of Moore and Super Crazy against the Mega Powers. The younger team beat the older by DQ when Hogan laid out Jimmy Korderas. Korderas gave the DQ at 10:30, two points for Moore and Super Crazy. 1.25 stars.
Bushwhackers/Harts is up next, and in an amazing (and by amazing I mean not so very amazing) ten-minute match,
Owen falls to Luke. Meltzer wept. 1.75 Stars.
The next match has Styles and Daniels up against Stevens and Patterson. The match ended up being a shocker (no, not like that) that ended in 2:44 when Stevens smashed Styles' head into the ringpost and knocked him out cold. Two points for a
countout win. 2 stars.
***
The Bushwhackers are hoping that the hometown advantage helps against Shannon Moore and Super Crazy. It did 'em well... Butch kneed Moore in the back, hit him with a powerbomb, and at 5:10, it was all over. 1.5 stars.
Daniels and Styles are rounding things out against the Brothers Hart. Lots of kicking in this match. Lots of heel heat on the Harts. And lots of pin attempts. Daniels and Styles get the win when the Fallen Angel hits Last Rites on Owen at 17:30. 3.75 stars.
Our last match of the tournament is going to have a hard time beating the last one... but the Mega Powers and the Blonde Bombers are going to do their damndest. The Mega Powers end up pulling off a win when Savage hits the Flying Elbowdrop on Patterson at 26:16. 2.25 stars.
And now... YOUR Sydney Regional standings...
