In addition to the stipulations, drafting authority figures in the pre-draft is something I wouldn't mind nixing or altering. Last year's draft saw AJ, Bryan, Rock, and Flair all sitting on the sidelines as executives.

Yeah, I'd rather do away with the pre-draft entirely as well.

My thoughts on things:

1) I'm good with doing away with the pre-draft altogether. It was good for a one time experiment, but I think it stifled creativity more than encouraged it.

2) I'm for continual clocks. No overnight stoppages or pauses.

3) I'd be for altering the clock misses. One miss takes you to four hours, two misses takes you to two hours and three misses put you on autoskip. There always seems to be one or two people who slow things up, so lets neutralize them quicker. I'm for a faster draft, not a slower one.

4) I'd support doing the ticket buying method for showdowns as I believe it's more fair than doing head to head voting.

5) All other standard rules from the past I'm fine with.

6) Do I remember correctly that last year's winner gets the overall number one pick this year as a prize? If so, that would be me.

Most all the standard rules are fine. The pre draft stuff seems.... unneccessary to me.

I would be for shortening the draft to say 32 rounds and allowing the fill in spots to go to add/drop. So many times people call their draft early, no need to make the end more confusing.

I do think the clock suspensions need to stay. This forum is not a bastian of activity most nights. The simple pause from midnight to 8am EDT works well IMO. It can be shorted a tad or adjusted a bit if needed.

If we eliminate that, we really need to keep the clock penalties as is. In general, after a few rounds these things seem to develop a pattern. If my clock is constantly coming up after midnight, there are days I work when it is close to lunch before I can sit and look at stuff. I am all for faster drafts, but there is a limit.

And, I might be alone or just too old and set in my ways, but I HATED the dollar amount voting thing. I much prefer the head to head options.

I'm 50/50 in, as work has gotten unpredictable. When are we looking to start?

If we wanted to do away with clock stoppages overnight, I'd suggest a slight tweak to 12 hour clocks, 1st miss no penalty, 2-3 misses get a 4 hour clock, after 3 misses becomes an autoskip.

Doing away with the pre-draft is something I agree with. I liked the concept but I think it'd involve too much tweaking to make it something that works for everyone. I'm really enjoying the shortened draft we're doing on OO at the moment that includes a limited roster and set match amount. That might be something I think could work here. 30-35 instead of 40. 7-8 match max cards. Maybe allow for the concept of doubleshot cards in one of the rounds where you're building a weekend of events instead of just 1 card.

Also, I'm in but would love to work with one of the more creative types that like to do the writeups as thats the one part I fail miserably at.

Overnight stops aren't terrible when it just adds an hour or two, but when someone goes on the clock at midnight and then doesn't check in the following day, their clock ends up lasting until 4pm, wasting the better part of a day.

I don't really see a need to expedite penalties for misses, but I also don't see a need to lengthen clocks to avoid penalties. 8 hours is long enough, I wouldn't look forward to waiting out someone's 12 hours when I'm up after them.

I'm not a huge fan of the $$ voting, but I'm also not married to the traditional showdown. Maybe we can come up with something...

I can take out the pre-draft, except maybe the non-wrestling general manager. That's a good storytelling element, but it can be optional. If we do it, it may not happen until Round 3-4ish, so the top stars aren't taken as GMs without using "real" draft picks.

Not so sure about limiting the # of matches, but I am all for decreasing the rounds to 30-35, maybe 30 rounds of drafting with a 35-person limit after add/drop?

I'm open to any of the clock management ideas, too. We've done it all, it seems.

What if we did the 8-hour clock with the overnight suspension, but the first pick coming off of the overnight break is a 4-hour clock? (The first clock of the day expires at noon.)

I'm in the camp of keeping the clocks the same. It can be a pain in the ass to wait sometimes, but I've also found that I come up with wrestlers I hadn't thought of drafting or stories I hadn't thought of telling during those delays. We also tend to get more trades when people are bored while waiting.

For me, the draft itself is the appeal. I'm not interested in speeding it up.

I think a rule could be added for the pre-draft manager picks if it needs to be kept around in some capacity. Maybe limit it to non-wrestlers or people who are more known as managers/authority figures, just as a way to avoid a value wrestler pick from slipping down the list and then being boxed into a non-wrestling role.

Using my own strategy from the last draft to support this idea or something like it: I had the #1 pick, with three guys in mind I could take. Knowing the other two wouldn't fall an entire two rounds back to me, I figured it was better to have them on my card not wrestling than for someone else to have them wrestling on theirs. Which is a little unfair. There will still be value picks in rounds 3-4 that someone could use the same strategy to lock away from others.



As for the clocks, I won't argue either way. I just can't remember a time when the early morning picks were all that much of an issue. Stretching morning clocks out to noon is fine by me, but still not totally necessary.

It wouldn't stretch the morning clock, it'd shorten it. Basically the first clock of the day would be 4 hours (8a-12p).

I was basing it off of no overnight stops. If someone goes on the clock at midnight with overnight stops active, it "stretches" their clock from 8 to 12 hours. Which is better than stretching it to 16 hours, and I have no problem with it, but if there was a vote, I'd vote for no stops and to just keep the 8 hours cycling the whole time.

Okay, officially:

• Removing the pre-draft altogether

I am going to run a poll with two different clock options. Both are changes, but we'll see which change people like the most.

I am trying to give and give, so I am taking one thing! This year we will test the Double Picks. What are the double picks?

In round 12, everyone will get 2 picks instead of one. This is being done in Round 12 because it's an even numbered round, thus the reverse order of round 1. It's also being done this early to "shake things up a little!" It's a strategy move. It also means who ever picks at the turn gets three picks...

Starting in Round 20, everyone gets 2 picks per turn, and the final round is round 26, where you get 3 picks. That totals to 35 roster spots. You can fill to 40 in add/drop.

Another thing. I am against add/drop or trading between rounds. Which I don’t think we did last year, but some other drafts have. Once the draft is over and the first card is submitted your team is your team.

We've allowed trades/Adds some years and not during others. Usually it is at the whim of the draft runner. There's an argument for and against it. I don't care either way

I kind of like the 'double picks' thing. I think I like it for later in the draft, but it's worth a shot.

So, to DevSop this all up, what about trades? Can I trade one of the two picks? Do we list them as pick 150a and 150b?

The only argument against is at the end of the round, you're going to have gone the equivalent of almost 3 full rounds between picks. Maybe not a big deal at the end, but in the middle when you're working on a mid-card, that could be significant.

It adds extra work if you're the commissioner, because you have to double check to make sure somebody who was gone was taken and you have to update main rosters. I also don't like it for collusion potential. If I'm out of the running or plain give up, I could throw certain people to somebody else by trade or letting them know when I'm going to be dropping people. Also, I don't find it fair for showdowns. Let's say you get whipped by Shark, decide to rebuild half your roster, and now I'm facing almost a completely different team in round two.

Now do people around here do that, no not really. But could they do it, yes.

I've always done the between round stuff as kind of separate from the main draft portion. I never went and updated roster lists for add/drop or trades between rounds because it just isn't necessary at that point. The reason it's necessary during the draft is to keep track of who is taken and available. In add/drop, you can just ctrl+f the thread, no lists needed. And it's mostly self-governing. If someone adds someone who was already taken, and I've seen it happen before, one or more of us will chime in because we remember that pick being taken. Really no need for someone to double check every add.

The collusion thing is a possibility, but like you said, we mostly work on trust and comoradory here, so it shouldn't really be an issue. I will say that the salary voting system also opens up the possibility of some sort of collusion, but again, I feel like we're all playing along with the idea that we're all above that kind of thing and have a mutual trust as board mates.

I think my big thing is that I usually have all my cards planned out by the time I submit the first, because I know where I’m going with storylines and match builds. So trading and add/drop between rounds just screws me up and I don’t do it. And I guess it’s okay if others do, but I just don’t like it.
