Jim Aparo goes on to meet Neal Adams in the finals.
Sale got his butt kicked this round, but he outperformed his seed more than any other artist in this showdown, toppling the #1 seed, Frank Miller, to be the only artist outside of the top four seeds to make the final four.
All right, I think everyone has had sufficient opportunity to vote. Neal Adams vs Jim Aparo is the final. Jim Lee put up one hell of a fight though. The lead went back and forth multiple times in this one.
Damn, another one who hates "cartoony." With you and Psychofish and Lucky, that's three votes automatically against Parobeck (unless he's against another cartoony artist like Cooke this round.) Parobeck's awesome.
Timm's really great, but in this case I agree with you. I like Mandrake a little more. Mandrake goes on to face Aparo in round two.
Hey, I would have preferred Breyfogle, but only by a little bit. I'm glad one of them is going on (to be destroyed by Miller in the next round anyway, no doubt) based on votes and not a damn coin flip.
This poll is closed, Sale will be facing Miller in round two.
So I'm trying to get a jump on this field and figure things out. For the record, here's how I'm setting seedings.
- Straight pt totals where it works. - In the event of pt ties tiebreaker is whichever lady made the most ballots. - In the event of pt AND ballot ties tiebreaker is whichever lady scored highest on a ballot. - In the event of a tie there I just picked whoever I thought was hottest. Its just for seeding.
It works out at the moment pretty well. If things change tonight with more ballots then I'll deal with that. Here's the interesting thing. For the first 60 ladies things work out beautifully. As it happens there are 8 ladies tied for the 4 16 seeds. As it so happens 4 of those ladies made 2 ballots and the other 4 only 1. So it looks like I'm going to put up 4 Play In matchups for the 16 seeds. Works beautifully in my book. I figure I'd put them up for Friday morning and let them run through the weekend before the Field of 64 kicks off on Monday.
No byes. Seems lame. Rather see 4 extra girls anyway. Only other thing I can think is to play the Play In games on Monday with the other ones, extend each day to 9, and screw around. But it seems like a lot of off planning for me and since these are just play ins for 16 seeds I figure Friday-Sunday is fine.
This is the ideal schedule: 4/20 (Fri) to 4/22 (Sun) - 4 16-seed Play Ins 4/23 (Mon) to 4/29 (Sun) - 8 1st Round Bracket A 4/25 (Wed) to 5/1 (Tues) - 8 1st Round Bracket B 4/30 (Mon) to 5/6 (Sun) - 8 1st Round Bracket C 5/2 (Wed) to 5/8 (Tues) - 8 1st Round Bracket D 5/7 (Mon) to 5/13 (Sun) - 8 2nd Round Bracket A/B 5/9 (Wed) to 5/15 (Tue) - 8 2nd Round Bracket C/D 5/14 (Mon) to 5/20 (Sun) - 4 Sweet 16 Bracket A/B 5/16 (Wed) to 5/22 (Tues) - 4 Sweet 16 Bracket C/D 5/21 (Mon) to 5/27 (Sun) - Elite 8 Bracket A/B 5/23 (Wed) to 5/29 (Tues) - Elite 8 Bracket C/D 5/30 (Wed) to 6/3 (Sun) - Final Four 6/4 (Mon) to 6/10 (Sun) - Final
Of course, still 5-6 hours before deadline so more ballots can easily come in. But if you're intending to send one make sure to let me know because it looks like I'll be putting up the prelim polls late tonight/early tomorrow.
And you can rest assured that - at least on Pun's Board (and really, what other messgae board matters?) - the bestest live action kids show in all of space and time is
[glow=red,2,300]Sesame Street [/glow]
Which goes to show two things.
1) The majority of us here at Pun's place a high value on education. 2) If you want to be on the winning team, find which side Krydor is rooting for and go with the opposite. Dude is the Tony Romo of picking winners.
I voted Tiny over Looney, incidentally. I thought I had posted that. It wasn't because I truly thought it was better. But Tiny was the Toons of my youth and it was plenty quality. It deserved its respect. Looney just was the classic that spawned Tiny so by all rights won.
