Our second Round 1 matchup has the Dark Knight going up against the host of these here boards. You mean that the Punisher from Marvel is NOT the same 5'4" shorty who hosts this board? Well then. But it is the Punisher.

And folks - I'm a swing vote on this one. In most instances I would vote Batman hands down. But Punisher is...well he's pretty fucking awesome. So let's hear the arguments!

well, considering the votes so far, and the fact that no one is even trying to talk about the vote itself here, i think it's safe to say that this match-up is pretty much the definition of "no-brainer"

Sorry, sergei, I can't do it. Punisher has a special place in my heart, because, along with the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Eastman and Laird were the SHIT!), his comic was the first one I ever bought. But if I said he could take Batman, I would just be thinking with my heart and not my head. Sure, Frank has Marine Corp training, but that's nothing compared to the training Bruce has been through. Punisher would be nothing without his guns. And it's not like Batman hasn't taken on a bunch of trained soldiers before. Batman would kick his ass in a fist fight. Plus, Batman is the world's greatest detective for crap's sake! Castle would be nowhere without Microchip.

Punisher would go down in a blaze of glory, though......

And besides, Batman has already handed Punisher his ass twice.

a) Batman whooped his ass twice
b) Batman beat the Predator
c) Batman beat Captain America
d) Batman's intro movies was way better
e) Batman The Dark Knight Returns

I agree with all the love for Batman, hell I expect him to win this whole thing pretty easily actually. But the Punisher is one of my faves as well and I refuse to have him get shut out. That's why Punisher will have a minimum of one vote.

Ya know, I thought this one would be easier than it is, with Batman being the clear favorite. Since my vote will ultimately mean nothing, here anyway, I'll let you all know I'm voting for Punisher here, for 4 simple reasons:

1) His first appearance was in a Spidey mag.

2) His second movie was far better than the first 5 from Batman. They got it right much sooner (even though I think Batman Begins is still by far the better overall movie).

3) Sometimes you just need a guy who's willing to make the kill. Spidey's my "bring in the bad guy to be judged" guy, already. Sometimes getting blood on your hands is the only way to get the message across.

4) Punisher 2099 > Batman Beyond

Tard, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Batman Beyond. But the 2099 series came along at the peak of my comic fandom. The only 2099 title I never really got into was Ravage.

And didn't I read/hear that somewhere Spidey 2099 is actually part of a CURRENT team? Or something recently?
