Official Trade Thread created.
No particular reason...
EDITED 2/25/2014: I've created a spreadsheet tracking all traded draft picks, and I'll leave it here (and in a few other spots) just so the link is handy. You need to request permission, I believe, and I will grant it as soon as I can.
JD sends to Scott: TIM THOMAS - G - FLA and one copy of the Tea Party Manifesto.
Confirmed.

I did; hence me thinking this trade makes zero sense. There's no guarantee Stamkos is back this season and he's not keeper eligible and even if he comes back, you get maybe a week or 2 of stats from him. Meanwhile, Hodgey gets a pretty top C for the entire season. I'm failing to see how this is fair.

Look, you don't have to be comfortable with the risk. But I am.
I'm betting that my team will make the playoffs without Spezza.
I'm also betting that Stamkos will be healthy for our fantasy playoffs. Which is based on my inside sources* telling me that this appears to be a 3-6 month injury. But he's an elite 23-year old athlete and there is optimism that he can return for the Olympics, so I'm liking the bet of 3 months. But even if he isn't ready on Feb 13 for Canada's first game, I just need him to be ready by March 24th - the first game of our fantasy playoffs. If he returns on March 13th - after 4 months - he has ten days to get up to speed for our fantasy playoffs.
So yes, it's a risk, but I did my homework, and I'm very, very comfortable with that risk, based on the tremendous upside of having the #1 pick in the draft for the playoffs.

I wouldn't have vetoed it or anything since I need to see a clear case of collusion or something that truly upsets competitive balance, but even if I had considered vetoing it, this explanation is a good reason to allow the trade. Good luck with the risk.
