Ok, so Blackstar was an astronaut thrown through a black hole. He arrives on a strange planet, and meets his friend Clone (who can become anything). He begins a quest to unite the power sword and the star sword to save the world from evil. The power sword is held by an evil guy.

Adventures ensue, with hijinx along the way.

Sure, it's no attempt to cash in on the wildly successful Duck Tales and it is original, but what do I know? Just an original cartoon that was a whole pile of fun, as opposed to a bumbling wannabe superhero who relied on cameos from marginal Disney charaters.

That's amazing. Because I just saw Blackstar described as "a product inspired by the immense popularity of the 1980s Thundarr the Barbarian." And then I see they revived up off the immense popularity of He-Man. But I suppose you're right. Half naked barbarian heroes in a stranger world of science and fantasy was a totally original concept.

Not to mention that like so many else Blackstar probably just existed so they could sell more toys to us. I figure this because despite the fact that I had to dig hard to remember this show I do remember I had this guy in my toy bin.

Hey, if you dig your lame scifi cartoon more than my lame duck cartoon fine. DW ain't making it far and I don't even think he belongs on a list of the top 60 cartoons or so (then again neither does Blackstar and at least a dozen other ones we've seen). But they're both basically uninspired derivative cash ins often meant to sell toys and avoid making any effort to do something new and interesting.

Also, Wiki said that Blackstar was supposed to be black but they chickened out. So screw those cowards! A vote for Blackstar is a vote for the continued oppression of african americans in the American media!

So, Tex... based on your Charlize Theron example I take it you mean to say that the Melina pictures you linked to were Melina making herself INTENTIONALLY hideous so as to properly play a role she won awards for? Because then kudos to Melina's performance. When I saw this picture I truely thought she was a hideous, scary woman.


Gator, I gotta say... I don't buy your example. Those "bad" Ricci pictures aren't doing anything for me but basically for the same reasons Ricci is considered attractive. Pale, petite, childlike, big eyes. They're the same basic traits in the "good" pics but sometimes they'll overpower each other and make something a little TOO pale or child like or a creepy creature with giant cavernous eye sockets.

But then again I'm not sure what Tex intends to accomplish besides bucking at my will. He's the one who pointed towards hideous scary pictures and said "ohh, get me some of that." But as long as he was posting videos of Scarlet quasi naked I was ok with it.

I guess this is what happens when a Lucky tries to overanalyze something. All Tex intends to accomplish is to do exactly what you said not to do in the first place: No posting horrifying pictures of supposedly sexy women. I don't care what the motivation was for the picture - just a generally bad shot, something intentional a la Ms. Theron where regardless of intent she looks BAD. Whatever.

I figure if you're gonna be Mr. Smiteypants, I might as well keep giving you reminders for why you're doing that in the first place. That way your brain can focus on sports stats and not have brain cells that would otherwise be used on retaining Thurmon Munson's lifetime batting average be divereted to "gotta smite Tex".
