Later, Alexis leaves the locker room and wanders down to the Yoga Room. Firewoman is in there alone, doing DDPY Diamond Cutter 2.0 workout. Alexis watches for a bit until Fire finally makes the ending bow.
LD: I didn't mean to interrupt.
FW: I saw you in the mirror, it's fine.
LD: That's intense. No wonder you look great post-baby. How is the little guy?
Firewoman's demeanor immediately changes...softens.
FW: He's amazing. A little miracle. There is absolutely nothing I wouldn't do for him, to keep him safe.
LD: I knew you'd be a great mom.
FW: Well, to be honest, I wasn't really sure, but...I mean, I live in constant fear I will screw something up.
LD: I think every parent has that fear.
FW: So... did you want to use the room?
LD: No. I was just kind of ... wandering around...
Firewoman sits down on a stack of folded mats.
FW: You know...you remind me of what you were like when we met.
LD: What?
FW: Not at first. I mean, when I first met you ... I was just in awe. You were so sure in the ring, confident....I had an immediate crush on you...
LD: Yeah... I know... I heard the Jericho podcast interview.
FW: Then when I got to know you, I saw how uncertain you really, were. How you weren't really as confident as you appeared. And... well, it made me admire you all the more. I mean if you could be that unsteady and STILL put on the performances you did... and then as we hung out more, I watched. I learned. I saw that confidence in the ring start to move beyond that, until you had the same confidence that you pretended to have.
LD: Heh... fake it 'til you make it.
FW: Kind of. It was an amazing transformation, and I really wanted to just... well, be just like you.
LD: Well....that was a long time ago...
FW: Sure... but now you're back to that.
LD: .... what?
FW: I can see it in your eyes, and how you carry yourself... You hide it well, but those of us who know you well can see it. Spencer can. I can.... and....
LD: .....Alex can.
FW: And you're facing him.
LD: ....is this a pep talk because I gotta say it's lacking the pep.
FW: Look, Moose has suggested that I stay out of whatever is going on with you two, and he's probably right...I care about you both, and I am here for both of you....
LD: ... swell....
FW: Now, your brother doesn't want to face you in the ring, and using my well-honed skill at finding an exception to anything that I need to find, he's been given three options. One is that he can just do his fucking job and wrestle the match. Two, he can just lay down and let you pin him so the thing is over, which is technically okay. He can also not show up, which is not okay and I will fuck him up for that, no matter how I personally feel.
LD: You're point?
FW: My point is that in two of the three scenarios, you win.
LD: By doing nothing.
FW: Yes, but if I were a betting woman, I'd put my money on you even if he decides to stop being coward and works the match.
LD: ....
FW: On any given day, you two are evenly matched. The difference here is that Alex thinks he's owed this championship. You have something to prove. Not to him, not to me, but to yourself. You need to prove that you belong in that ring, in the main event, in a championship match. I know you do, and HE knows you do...but YOU need to prove it to yourself. And from what I know about you? An Alexis Darling who has something to prove is DANGEROUS....and NOTHING can stop her.
LD: ... I...
FW: So I want you to remember that, and when you get into that ring, remember that YOU are Alexis Fucking Darling...and he is just NOT.
LD: ...
FW: ....
LD: Thanks, Fire.
FW: Don't mention it.
Fire grabs her towel and water bottle and starts to leave. She stops and turns around.
FW: Hey, about you and Lindsay... well, I'm sorry that you broke up. I know you really, really loved her.
Lexie smiles a bit.
LD: You know, you and I--
Fire holds up a hand.
FW: Nah, it's okay. I have come to terms with the reality of things.
LD: What do you mean?
FW: *smiling* I've broken up with both you and your brother, and neither time inspired a drunken bender... it's okay.
Fire continues to leave and head to her office.
