It was 2 hrs of let's make the Bluesmobile even more over the top and let's do it 18 years later so it's even more obvious Ackroyd and Landis are doing it as a cashgrab.

There's your winner, folks. It is the worst movie I have ever seen, and I saw the "Renegade Cut" to boot, and it still sucks.

Oh, XXX: State of the Union is gawdawful. Caddyshack II is brutal. Baby Geniuses? Crap. What else really sucked that I've seen... Pink Caddilac starring Clint Eastwood. Jenjissss Kahn starring the Duke. Harlem Nights. Best Defence. Dukes of Hazzard.

I love Redd Foxx, I love Richard Pryor and I love Eddie Murphy. Three of the greatest comedians of all time in what was one of the worst directed, worst written and worst acted films I have ever seen.

I usually enjoy Harlem Nights on the weight of Eddie, Pryor, and Redd but then about an hour in after that chick from Different World has maxed out her hotness and Eddie has beat up the madame I sort of lose interest and look for something else.

I already knew that Blues Brothers 2000 was a shameless cashgrab starring Goodman, a kid, and some black dude before I bought my ticket. And I already knew they'd have to recreate the iconic scenes of the 1st movie and top the Bluesmobile stuff with MORE crashes. I was prepared for all of that and I still almost lost it in the theater. But they gave me great music for 2 hours that ended with one of the greatest collections of muscians on one stage I'd ever seen. Which is petty much EXACTLY what I was hoping for when I saw that.

I was never a huge fan of the first 2 Beverly Hills Cop movies so I guess while I found 3 inferior it wasn't some gross disappointment to me.

EDIT: Oh shit, the mean ass Madame WAS the Touched by an Angel chick, wasn't she? Wow.

That's the thing - most of my picks are inferior sequels to great movies. Any kind of hype or buildup I have going into it quickly goes away.

Yes, yes I was. I was expecting the funniest movie of all time, one that all other comic films would be compared against. This was Eddie at his peak, a healthy Pryor off numerous hits and Redd Foxx, who was a god even then.

Based on the talent involved, the movie was crap. As was a crappy flick starring Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood called City Nights or somesuch.

Sometimes ensembles starring masters of their domain fail utterly.

Pryor wasn't that healthy when they filmed that. He didn't have full blown MS but I remember reading they were worried about him even in '89.

With that kind of talent, it should have been the funniest movie ever, I won't disagree there. It still made laugh a lot so I can't call it one of the worst I've seen. A disappointment, sure but the worst? Nah.
