Seriously, Tiger was about to putt and the bird flew overhead. He stepped back, lined it up again, and then was about to putt when both my HD NBC and the regular one were out; every other channel I tried was fine. It came back after Rocco made his putt.

I blame it on Gatorade.

Had the lead after 3 rounds, didn't have the lead after 4 rounds...sounds like he blew the lead. He didn't totally blow, but the way they always word is that if Tiger has the lead after 3, it's a foregone conclusion he wins...well, it wasn't here and he had to take 19 extra holes to finally shake Rocco. And that's even getting into the fact that he went from 3 up with 8 to play to 1 down with 1 to play.

That was fun. I was reading the Sky Sports live blog, and that was an amazing final four/five holes plus sudden death. Great glof. And at the same time I was keeping tabs on Austria/Germany and Poland/Croatia. Ahh, what a day to work.

Too bad the first sudden death hole was the par 4, 7th, Rocco had a very poor record on that hole (that didn't improve today) but Tiger had a great one, with all the pressure of going to hole #91, that stat surely didn't help Rocco's nerves. But before everyone starts complaining about Tiger favouritism, I think I read somewhere that this decision was made before tee off on Thursday (unfortunately I have no clue where I read that)

The 4th Round and the Playoff are consided the same round by both the USGA and the PGA, that's why it's "technically".

The decision was probably made not too long after they got the US Open bid 8 or 9 years ago.

Tiger Woods has decided to have surgery on his left knee, which will end his 2008 season.

Woods said on his Web site that Woods will have surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament. He also wrote that he needs time to rehabilitate a double stress fracture of his left tibia, which he said was discovered just before the Memorial Tournament in late May.
