As you all know, this past Sunday, in an historic session, the Professional Wrestler Renewal and Redistribution Act was passed. Every professional wrestler who ever lived has been--if necessary--returned to life and to the prime of their life, and by act of Congress released from any existing contract. All this has freed them up to be available for the historic draft taking place as we speak. Twenty wrestling organizations with forty roster slots apiece will be drafting from this amazing pool.

My fellow wrestling fans. We stand today before an incredible opportunity. With every wrestler of all time to choose from... (I mean... all but seven)... I must choose just one to be the standard-bearer for the *New* AWA. The man who will lead us back to the glory that was once synonymous with those initials. And beyond.

With that in mind, I didn't choose the wrestler who held the most gold, or the wrestler who made the most money. I chose the best wrestler. I chose...

EDDIE GUERRERO!!!


Eddie Guerrero:

Orale, Vatos! I am so proud to have been picked out numero uno in the *New* AWA.

I have no idea which guys I'm going to be facing week in and week out to entertain you great fans. I don't know who I'll be facing at the *New* AWA's first annual...uh...big show.

Turns head towards Mr. Alderman.

Yo, Sergio! How about a clue, holmes?! No? Ah, well.

In FACT, I don't even know what the name of our big show is going to be yet!

(OK, yeah, it's me, Sergei. I've got to a wear a lot of hats right now. It's a start-up, damn it!!)

I notice nobody's used our talkback option yet. I know we only have one wrestler signed so far, (AND AN AWESOME ONE!!!) but we'd love to hear any feedback from our fans. (Fan? ...If any.)

I just wanted to let everyone know that, while this is THE place for official updates on the *New* AWA, it's not only for official updates.

The 12-Pack? Well yeah, I do want that to keep a prominent position. But I think the fantasy draft promotions will grow exponentially, much faster than the 12-PAck.

The *New* AWA is very proud to announce our second and third draft picks. We are also very lucky to have been able to draft such huge talents after the first round.

Our second draft pick is an all-around performer--a man who can excel in any role he may be needed in. A man who can be a brutal monster or a beloved teddy-bear--a man who could fill the role of a main-event wrestler, or a midcard wrestler, a referee, a color commentator or a commissioner, depending on what we end up needing. I'm talking about the Hardcore Legend himself: MICK FOLEY!!

Hey, everybody! I can't tell you how happy I am to be RIGHT HERE!... in Minneapolis, wrestling for the AWA! I'm really psyched to be working with the amazing Eddie Guerrero again (something I certainly never expected.) Most of you probably wouldn't say that Eddie and I have a lot of history with each other, but I've had my clashes with the Guerrero clan before, very early in my career... in the AWA, believe it or not! So, I'm psyched that I may be facing him, or maybe tagging with him--it should be a blast! I'm also psyched to hear about this third draft pick, who I have been assured is just as big of a steal as I was. Go ahead, Prez!!


Alderman:

Well, before I address that, I just wanted to clear up a couple of... little misunderstandings. First off, it's the *New* AWA. No relation. Please never state or imply that we're the same as the original AWA. It's a legal thing. Secondly--and this is something I expect to change, and I certainly hope to change--but for right now you are not yet on the *New* AWA roster as a wrestler. My next announcement--and my last, I hope--is that Mick Foley has been named interim commissioner of the *New* AWA!


Foley:

What? I'm in the shape of my life! You don't want me to wrestle?


Alderman:

No! No! "Interim"! "Interim"! I'm sure I'll be able to draft someone else for the permanent job and transition you to a wrestling roster spot before our first big show, but for now I need you as the public face of the *New* AWA, so I can concentrate on behind-the-scenes... stuff.


Foley:

Well. All right, I can do that. Specifically, though, what...?


Alderman:

Everything you need to know is on this piece of paper. Bye!


Foley:

Um. Wow. That was.... Surprising. OK! It looks like we've got two more announcements to make. Funny, they're both about "big shows." I'll save the biggest announcement for last....

So, first off, it appears that the name of our first big show has been settled on, it will be called "The Big Bang"! That's actually kind of clever....

And finally!! Our HUGE third draft pick, he is in my opinion without a doubt the best, most talented big man in the history of wrestling... THE BIG SHOW!!!!!


The Big Show (hmm, he doesn't seem happy...) :

Third... round... draft pick?!! THIRD ROUND?!!! What are you people THINKING?!!

No. I know what you're thinking! You think you know the Big Show. "That Show, he plays the part of the big, mean bully, but we all know he's a big teddy bear deep down inside. He's an en-ter-taining guy! He's a great guest on Conan! [sings]In the Year Two Thousand![/sings]" Well, SCREW THAT!

I am going to prove to each and every one of you that I'm not just the best big man in the history of wrestling. I've had ENOUGH faint praise and back-handed compliments! I am the BADDEST Mofo to ever walk the EARTH!!

This is great stuff Serge! I look forward to seeing it all play out. That's one of the interesting things about this draft, some characters might be on our roster for several weeks, developing their persona and building their feud.

**OOC: Thanks guys. Pure serendipity. The best pic I had of Big Show was one of him bleeding and looking crazy. So I thought "how would that possibly fit into a press conference announcing him being drafted?" And inspiration struck.
