Everyone,
I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying this league. Thanks for the invite!
I know it's early yet but is anyone thinking about any rule changes for next year? I had a couple ideas that I'd thought I'd throw out there, see what everyone else thought...
1) Maybe get rid of counting completions and rushing attempts and change the way yards are scored to a more traditional method. It seems like the completions really jacks up QB scoring. Something like 15 of the guys in the top 25 scoring are QBs, including some guys that hare having marginal years, where as we only have 5 RBs and 5 WRs in the top 25. Just seems like we might be possible to balance this out a little.
2) Different website, maybe. I run a league using ESPN Fantasy Football. I didn't expect much, considering it was free, but it's been really good. Live scoring that has been reliable with the exception of one week. Lots of options in league settings and what not. I've also heard that the free NFL.com leagues are pretty good, though I've not tried them myself. The live scoring alone is probably worth it, all things considered.
3) Maybe an offensive flex spot of some sort. I've had different leagues do it different ways, but it adds some extra depth to the game. One league I'm in uses a true "superflex" spot where you can start any offensive position in the flex. Some others just do a WR/TE spot or a WR/RB spot. It's a fun way to keep our league unique and utilize the FA pool a little differently. I've also been in a league where they just have 2 starting QB spots - that was a real good time because in most leagues you have a bunch of good QBs sitting out there while some scrub RB/WR/TE gets started instead. It helps those teams stay in it if they get hit with a huge injury, too. Changes the way draft day goes, as well, as QBs go a little higher and there are more late round bargains.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts. I know I'm the new guy, so I don't want to seem like I'm trying kick any doors in or anything.
All in all, though, I'm having a great time with this league. Everyone has been active and that's 90% of a good league anyway.
Good luck the rest of the way!
Dave
