An entension on Coughlin doesn't make me nervous. I liked him in Jacksonville and I like him now. I think his tough nosed approach is one of the reasons why the team responded last season and this season.
I think the Giants should win the Super Bowl this season but they have shown enough cracks to worry me. The Eagles make me the most nervous. When they are on they can pile on the points. The Panthers also worry me a little but I think the Giants played well in the 2nd half of that game and should be able to build on that. Vikings, Cardinals, Falcons don't really worry me too much but anything is possible in the playoffs.
In the AFC I think the San Diego/Indianapolis winner will be a tough out. Right now I think the Colts will win it but I won't be surprised by the result especially with how close they played this year and last year's surprise win in the playoffs. Both teams are on a roll right now though my gut tells me San Diego's is as much to do with the collapses of Tampa & Denver, and getting to play Oakland and KC during the 4 game win streak.
The Steelers will be tough if Ben can stay on the field. The Titans are good but I still see an upset waiting for them somewhere.
I guess now would be the time for predictions.
Colts over Chargers Ravens over Dolphins Eagles over Vikings Cardinals over Falcons
Titans over Ravens Colts over Steelers Giants over Eagles (worries me though as a Giants fan) Panthers over Cardinals
Colts over Titans Giants over Panthers
Colts over Giants. Peyton is MVP. Manning Family adds 3rd straight Super Bowl MVP award.
What happens next year when the Chargers miss the playoffs? Tomlinson's another year older, as are Phillips and Merriman (should he come back 100%), as is Gates, as is the offensive line...how long until the Chargers give their team and their fans a coach they deserve?
Alright. Who? Who is out there that's available, willing to go to San Diego and good? I'm all ears if there's some huge availability that no one's jumping on.

Cowher? Billick? Break the bank for Jimmy Johnson? Marty Schottenheimer? Parcells? Steve Spagnulo? Fuck, I'd rather have Rod Marinelli than Norvell Turner.
Edit: Steve Mariucci is still out there. You could break the bank for Holmgren and hand him the keys he might go. Honestly though, I'd rather have a coordinator in his first head coaching job than a retread like Turner who's never done a fucking thing.

Earth, Wind and Fire? Really?
weak
The Phillies are everything I hoped the Mets would be - a team that plays their fucking asses off for all 27 outs. They're never out of a game. Solly 10/20/09

Weak? Come on that is a great name for a three headed attack especially with a big bruiser like Earth and 2 speedsters as Wind and Fire. That is just all kinds of ass kicking.

No, it reminds me of these guys:
not exactly bad ass

I guess we have to see how it pans out but just getting into the playoffs wasn't enough for Marty even after a 15-1 season.
Not getting winning a playoff game was not the reason Marty got the axe. He and management couldn't get along. That's why the sudden firing after letting all their assistant coaches go to new teams and only 2-3 months before the following season started.
Shit, I would've rather had Cam Cameron be our head coach over Norv. And I'll be the first to say I was pissed off when they picked Norv. I'm ok with him now, but I don't think he's the bees knees. But hey, he got us to the AFC Championship game.

If Cowher was actually available I think he would've ended up on another team quite some time ago. Cowher's made it pretty clear he doesn't want to coach again for a while.
Marty's not an option. He and management hate each other with a passion.
Mariucci would be bad ass. Although he seems pretty happy getting paid to sit next to Deion on Sundays now.
Predictions:
Chargers over Colts Ravens over Dolphins Eagles over Vikings Cardinals over Falcons (I think on OO I predicted Falcons over Cards, but I change my mind now)
Chargers over Titans Steelers over Ravens
Giants over Eagles Panthers over Cards
Chargers over Steelers (I'm a homer, so what?) Giants over Panthers
Chargers over Giants. People finally stop doubting Norv Turner. At least til next season. Rivers is MVP.

Is Rivera still the LB coach there? He was a hot candidate for HC jobs a couple of years ago.
Yeah, I've been making that point for a while. Ron Rivera works for San Diego and he was bumped up to Defensive Coordinator in late October when Cotrell was fired for raging incompetence, but he was a big candidate for head coach at several teams.
And what would it take for you to stop shitting of Norv, Tommy? A ring? Two rings? Becoming the Lord of the Rings?

You're funny. Norvell Turner and "ring". That's cute.
Won 3 Super Bowls as a Head Coach, Went to a 4th and is a lock for the Hall of Fame:
Norvell Turner
Is universally recognized as the architect of the great Giants Defenses of the late 80s and early 90s
Norvell Turner
Took over a 5-11 team and won the Super Bowl with a backup QB in his second season
Took over a 14-2 team and in his second season led the most talented team in the NFL to an 8-8 record
In the mix for the discussion of "Best Coach Ever"
Norvell Turner
Last time the Patriots had an entire offseason to prepare after they missed the playoffs, they won 2 straight Super Bowls and lost a grand total of 5 games over that span. After they trade Cassel, they'll have at least 2 first round and 2 second round picks in the draft. One of those 2nd round picks used to belong to San Diego. I might be disappointed, but I'm certainly not jumping off any bridges. The Patriots will be back next year, because Belichick will be the coach. Can you say the same about San Diego and Norvell?
Mike Shanahan is a piece of shit. Nearly everything retarded that I hate about football can be directly traced back to Mike Shanahan. Freezing the kicker? Mike Shanahan. Cut-blocking? Mike Shanahan. Jay Cutler? Mike Shanahan.

Super Bowls? Shanahan. Inventing a system that makes your team successful even with Jake Plummer at QB? Shanahan.
I'm no fan of Cutler, and I kill Denver for the cut-blocking thing, and I think Shanahan looks like a rat; but you can't complain about the results. If Shanahan was coaching the Chargers, you could pretty much pencil in 2 Super Bowls. They wouldn't be 8-8, that's for sure.
Well, I think a bitter pissed-off Mike Shanahan who already hates the Raiders for firing him and hates the Chargers for obvious reasons and now probably isn't fond of the Broncos too much would be great for the Chiefs.

He fits with the Chargers too. Probably better. No way he'd turn down a team with that kind of talent. Coaches would be lining up for it. Plus he gets a chance to kill the Raiders and Broncos twice a year?
KC is a long-ass rebuilding job there. That strikes me as more of a Parcells destination.
