I never loved Doom because I was never a big fan of 1st person shooters (and still aren't), but I have no desire at all to play even one second of Rock Band and if we can knock it out before a karaoke game knocks out a game I do love I'll be happy.

Plus I've never played half the games in this showdown and haven't heard of quite a few, so ultimately I don't really care if Rock Band wins it all. I was just rationalizing my vote for a game I never enjoyed that much.

Never understood Goldeneye. Wasn't that great, except the first playable first person shooter on a home console. Nothing beats playing a first person shooter on a keyboard and mouse in my opinion...

What set Goldeneye apart from other FPS was the multi-player mode... but yeah keyboard & mouse is the way to go.

See, I was always a console gamer... never played on the PC all that much. So whenever I've played FPS games on the computer, it just feels unnatural to me.

Yeah, I was never a PC gamer and I think PC gamers overestimate how common it is. I remember a big rush of it coming when I was a teenager and those war type games where you could play in tandem over the internet and talk on the phone got popular. But even then of a group of like 8 friends there'd be 2 or 4 guys with the computer available to play, the ability to sit on the web for it, and the video and sound equipment to make it worthwhile.

But yeah, I'm with punker. PC gaming never felt "natural" to me.

My only problem with Rock Band is I could really give a shit about most of the songs available. The fact that it's STILL the best drunken game ever despite me knowing the lyrics to like two songs on the game speaks volumes of its awesomeness.

Add me to the "PC FPS games feel awkward" stance. It feels less like a video game and more of a reason to be in the mothers basement/fag category.

Rock Band is quite fun. Since we bought a PS3 (Shoulda bought an XBox360) we haven't turned on the Wii when we have company over. And we have 4 or 5 Wii Party games and only Rock Band on the PS3. The girls love the drums. Us dudes own our guitar/bass attack and the other chick, who doesn't get to bang, sings. Solo mode is fun, too. My Ma and Pa-In Law even played the last time they were over. They had a blast although they haven't played anything since Dig Dug and Tetris (which will, undeniably, kill my beloved DQVIII this friday. :-[ )



Lucky, the next time you're in Texas, come over and play Rock Band. We'll tear up some Metallica, Black Sabbath, Boston, Cars, or what have you. Sorry, no Limp Biskit.

I'll even buy your choice of beer/wine/spirits!

I really have NO interest in playing Rock Band. I mean, its not a judgment on the game, just my personal tastes. I just can't see myself drunk enjoying that concept. Or sober. But the truth is I'm not a big "party game" guy.

I love Rock Band. But I'm the type that doesn't mind making an ass of myself singing. I usually don't likie Karoke because they never have good Rock Songs to sing but with Rock Band I have plenty of music I like to sing to.

That shocked me too... especially about Half Life 2, which I've just recently started playing (via the Orange Box) and it's fucking fantastic.


I love all these music games to death. I have three plastic guitars and a drum set in my living room. I own two Guitar Hero games and Rock Band, and I plan to buy Rock Band 2 the minute it's released this coming Sunday. Hell, I'm even stoked to by Lips when that comes out later this year.

That said, there is no fucking way Rock Band should advance very far in this tournament. I don't care if it beats out Doom, since I always thought Doom was really overrated, but if it gets matched up against something good, it deserves to lose.

I know it's not Rock Band, but the new Guitar Hero will have drums and singing like RB. Also, Death Magnetic will be a download.

I don't care either way, but this comment is wrong.

The first level editor I believe was the biking game where you can make jumps and obstacles and things like that. I wanna say BMX Racer or something similar.
