Should I ditch the Jets?

Lucky, you operate on a different level than the rest of us do. It's not better or worse. It's just different. While the rest of us are insane at times and argue just to argue, you ALWAYS bring rationality to the table. I think it drives all of us crazy from time to time, but personally, I appreciate the differing viewpoint. But it's these two different levels that have us confused I think.
A couple of observations from your last post:
Now I've never jumped up for joy and actively cheered when a guy's gotten hurt. But I've said after the fact before, "Well, now that X is out of commission, maybe now we can win this thing." I think there's a difference between being "happy" about a guy getting hurt and hoping to take advantage of a guy getting hurt after the fact.
If what you're feeling is the former, I can understand why you might have second thoughts about cheering for your team. But, given your stance on everything else, I can't see you being this way, being "happy" that a guy got taken out. And if so, would dropping the Jets and picking up some other team solve that problem? Even if it's just casually following a team, you could get sucked back in again someday.
If it's the latter, again, I don't see a problem with it. It's what fans do. For instance, has McQuarters not recovered that punt last night, I sure as hell wouldn't have wanted Carolina to hand it back over and say, "it's okay, he fucked up, here, it's your ball."
But maybe I don't get it either.
Yeah, kinda. The Bobcats are so incompetent they are a perennial bottom feeder in a league in which half the league makes the playoffs every year. The Jets are so incompetent they... could be one of six NFL teams guaranteed to host a playoff game this year? That's the top 20% of the league. And even if they don't, they were in it til the end. You know all of this though.
For me anyway, I'm just struggling to see the "final straw" of what triggered this. Unless it was the loss in Seattle yesterday. I can TOTALLY understand being frustrated with the team you grew up with. (See my recent disillusionment with the Braves and passionate love affair with the Rays.) I just don't see how the "drama," whatever it may be, is running you off.
I mean, if drama was a problem, I have no idea how you've survived the Steinbrenner era and are embracing the dawn of a new one.
But again, Lucky... we work on different levels.

But with the Jets I actually sink to crappy places like being happy that a player got hurt because of a stupid rivalry.

What I don't get is aren't I presenting the same basic case as Eric did in the NBA thread? He's frustrated by his team so wants to ditch it. Why am I being ripped to shit over it? Because my team is having a better season than his?
