I mean could he have made a card of women and won this thing and if I had Angle/Benoit would I still be in a close struggle to advance? I'm just wondering if the specifics of these things even matter anymore. People see Solly and assume it'll be great, I guess.

And thats not a knock, since I even voted for you here, but I'm just wondering in general.

Maybe it's me but it probably has more to do with who was drafted vs. who drafted them. No one is looking at "Solly" - they're looking at Angle, Benoit, HHH, et al.

Dev, I think I credited just Solly's main event last night, but upon looking again, I remember I really liked having Demolition v. Dudleyz, as well as thinking his two skits (counting the comedy match as a skit) would be really fun to watch. Also, *I* still think John Cena is a lot of fun to watch.

I'm sure a fair bit of it is you. Whether people want to admit it or not a good amount of the voting done in these things is popularity contests. People don't want to vote for people they hate (and lots more people dislike lots more people here than the happy, shiny face of the place wants to let on). People want to help friends advance. Its just kind of natural. And everyone likes Solly.

That being said I've said before how Solly's tastes basically tend to fly right down the mainstream path perfectly so he just tends to put together the least offensive products when it comes to these things. It may not be "inspired" or "creative" or whatever, but its simple and clicks on things that people liked.

And in this case we obviously going against 1 card that had some clear flaws and another that most people seemed to hate. Mind you, Solly ending up as the 1st seed strikes me as a bit surprising since I didn't think he had the weakest 1st Rd competition nor the strongest card. But if I'd have to guess I'd say it was largely his card and his competition with a little bit of him.

I think thats what my point really was. He has a good card. One that definitely deserves to advance, but in no way do I think he had the strongest card to earn the #1 seed going forward.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from now that you've made your point a little clearer, Dev.

It's not surprising that Solly beat Angst and Demko, but... Why does he have more votes than Lucky, when Lucky was up against Gator, who got less votes then Demko? I don't know, I guess a few people voted for Solly who just abstained in the Lucky/Gator/Eric race.

I suppose that tiny edge might come from personal popularity, but I think most of the votes he got were based on the strength of his roster. And keep in mind that a lot of those may very well have been second place votes. He may have a little more difficulty than his seeding would indicate once it's one-on-one. (Though the seeding will help keep his path a little easier at first.)

Anyway, yeah, personal popularity might give him a little edge, but if so it's the difference between #1, #2, or #3 seed, not the difference between #1 seed and #20 or anything.
