so for a while now i've been using this thing called dropbox. if you find yourself transferring files often between the same 2 or 3 computers (home, office, whatever) it's seriously a trillion times easier and faster than using FTP or thumb drives.
the way it works is when you install the dropbox software on your computer, it puts a folder on your desktop (or wherever you choose to put it). then when you install the dropbox folder on another computer, those 2 folders will sync up automatically. so if you're doing something at work that you want to bring home, you just drop the file in your dropbox folder as you would any other folder, and when you get home the file will already be there on your home computer without you having to do anything.
i seriously use this thing on a daily basis.
now, for full disclosure, i must admit that the reason i bring this up to you is i get extra free space for referrals.
the free version starts you with 2 gigs of space. you get an extra 250 megs off the bat for joining through a referral. then you get 250 megs for every person you refer who joins and completes the start up steps (with a 10 gig max).
so if you choose to use this, plese use this link: www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTI4NzY4Mjk5
other dropbox uses/features:
-could be used for online back-up
-it's got an iphone app, and my friend has told me this makes it way easier to get photos on and off his iphone
-all your files (or more specifically, the files you've put in your dropbox folder. not ALL your files) are accessible through their website if you're not at one of the computers you have a dropbox folder on
-wanna give a file to a friend, but it's too big for email? you can make direct download urls for people to download specific files from your dropbox. (anyone wanna read blackest night #8? well it's in my dropbox so you can download it by clicking here: dl.dropbox.com/u/2876829/Blackest_Night_08.zip )
-you can have shared folders between yourself and other dropbox users.
so seriously, it's pretty awesome. again, the referral link is www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTI4NzY4Mjk5
