Dev, I'm surprised my self that Claudio was in the main event, but I think Gabe sees him as a main eventer, even if most of us do not. And you're right about Gabe waiting too long, but not all the time. Aries' win over Joe was perfect, and while he did wait too long with Punk, circumstances made it perfect timing as well.
Claudio should have won the Pure title from Nigel at Final Battle 2005 and had the run with Danielson over the Pure title, while Nigel had a run with Danielson over the World title. That would have legitimized Claudio some more (but then there was that whole CZW angle).
And the AotF should have won the tag belts tonight, too. I'm still not sure why they ever lost them to begin with.
I think they need to pull the trigger on Larry Sweeney's attempted take over, and fast. ROH could do a civil war angle very well, and it could carry them through the summer and beyond if they do it right.
I think part of the reason I didn't have any interest going to this show was because Claudio was in the main event. I mean, I think Dev knows I HATE Claudio but it just seemed like such a blah and stupid main event that it felt like an off PPV for TNA or WWE. Seeing a main event like that felt like a message from the booker that this isn't really a show that matters. Either Claudio was nothing challenger thrown at the champ or he was winning or getting a monster push... and I didn't want to see that. The Age of the Fall stuff and Hammerstein suggested different but Claudio/Nigel and the lack of anything else special really killed it for me. Danielson/Morishimo probably would have change that (I had no idea that was ever on the docket but it would have felt big). MCMG will make me keep an eye out for next time to see how that show looked.
I don't pay near enough attention to know if its "time" for stuff but I am surprised that the Age of the Fall didn't win the titles or get some kind of notable development. I guess the story is Lacey's absence after the video and Aries being beatdown but it sounds very blah.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.
Jay Briscoe vacates tag title. No mention if Aries did. No mention if he's fucked up and hurt as people keep saying he lost a dangerous about of blood, worse than the AotF debut. www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=1944
I presume that Briscoe's just really fucked up after last night and needs to take time off and that this isn't a weird story. Because as much as I've seen people say that AotF should have won the belts last night it would seem crappy as all hell to have had Mark give a belt to Aries, the makeshift team beat a top contender, and then have Jay vacate his belt so that you have no champ or two guys who were just given belts.
One of the Briscoes is seriously going to die after a ROH show soon.
ROH Boards seems to be blaming the poor show on Hammerstein being too big and "disconnected" and the crowd being "God awful." Then again ROH Boards never seem to think a ROH wrestler is capable of having a bad match or ROH capable of having a bad show. Its weird, the only two ROH shows I remember hearing BAD reviews of from ROH fans were this and the Long Island show during the snow storm. ROH doesn't seem to like NY.
And how the hell are ROH fans talking shit about NYC fans being assholes and trying to put themselves over? I mean, it might be true but you're ROH FANS! YOU are asshole smarks who try to put yourselves over and make shows tough to watch for those of us at home! We just have more experience at it.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.

In the ROH Newswire, they announced a one night tournament for the vacant tag team titles on June 6 in Hartford, CT. Already announced for the tournament are Kevin Steen & El Generico and Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black. I think you can pencil in Danielson & Aries, Pearce & Hagadorn, Hero & someone (Del Rey? Eddie Edwards lives in New England), maybe even Delirious & Pelle since they won the scramble at Hammerstein. That makes six. Maybe Albright & Stevens since Albright turned face. Rocky Romero & Davey Richards need to be in since they were the last champs prior to the Briscoes, but they're not listed on the talent roster.
I do assume some new names will be added due to the tournament. Jason Blade lives in New England, and he and Kenny King are the FIP Tag Team Champions, so I could see Gabe putting them in it.
That still leaves Nigel, Jay, Necro, and Roderick not in the tournament. ROH would likely do a 4 Corner Survival, but I would prefer Nigel defending against Jay right before intermission (after the first round) and Roderick vs. Necro between the semis and finals.
