These are some possible draft ideas I came up with. If enough people are interested in doing one certain idea I would be willing to act as commissioner. I'm also posting over at OO Board.
Retro Draft
Same as regular wrestling draft, but a year mark is set. For example, if the mark is 2000, you can’t draft any wrestler who debuted after the year 2000. You would still get anyone drafted at their fictional peak, even if you would consider that peak to be after the year 2000.
Gimmick Draft
Same as regular draft, but you are drafting characters/gimmicks instead of wrestlers. For example, in the regular draft if you draft Mick Foley, you get exclusive rights to Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love. In the gimmick draft, Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love can all be drafted separately from each other and by a different person. If you draft Cactus Jack you can only book him as Cactus Jack and not as Mankind or Dude Love or even regular Mick Foley. One person can also draft all three, but they would be three separate draft picks, and could book them against each other in a triple threat or together on a team for a six-man tag. Of course, there might be some argument and hair splitting on what one might call a different gimmick from another for the same person.
Heel/Face Draft
Everyone can be drafted twice. One as a heel and once as a face. You have to designate which you are taking. You can only book them as a heel or a face and have to mark designations on all cards.
Chance Card Draft
Regular wrestling draft. However, before each card is submitted one is assigned a random “chance card” you have to incorporate into your card. This includes things like “no gimmick matches,” “number one draft pick injured” or “ladder match title change” as some examples.
Reverse Draft
No active wrestlers can be drafted for the first 10 rounds. In the first 10 rounds you must draft a building, two announcers and an authority figure. The other slots can be used for managers, referees, other announces, backstage personnel, etc. Once those rounds are over, you can’t draft any non-wrestlers. You could add more in add/drop.
Mid-Carder/Jobber Draft
Take the last regular draft or the average draft placement list and chop off the top 200. Or go deeper and chop the top 400. Anyone axed can’t be drafted.
Wrestling Roster Challenge
Same as we recently did, but from a different time era. People will be assigned companies and rosters as they existed in 1985 or 1995, depending on what people might be interested in. The rest would be like the roster challenge done before. During free agency, you couldn’t take anyone who debuted after 1985 or 1995. You would get the person as they were for 1985 or 1995.
Current Draft
You can only draft currently active wrestlers. Anyone retired or not currently active can be drafted as non-wrestlers only such as announcers, backstage personnel, authority figures, etc. I would consider active as having wrestled a match at some point in 2019.
Man on a Mission Draft
Commissioner would not be a drafter. Each drafter is assigned a certain mission which would dictate how they draft. Nobody knows what the missions are, except the commissioner who would assign them. This could include “can only draft currently active wrestlers,” “can only draft former world champions,” “can’t draft any women” and others.
