People talk so much shit about the Blair Witch movie, but when I saw it with a group of friends opening night, it was scary/good/original enough to us.

Haven't seen it since to decide if it was just the packed theatre/opening night feel or if it was genuine.

eh, I like Scream. I actually like that movie a lot. I also liked Final destination so putting that as a reason to not pick Scream goes against it. I didn't like I Knwo What You Did Last Summer much other then Jennifer Love Hewitt. Scream is the reason for the FIRST Scary Movie which was awesome even if the second was the biggest pile of dung I ever saw. All in all I'm indifferent to what it spawned therefore based solely on the movie itself Scream easily defeats Blair Witch.

So Scream won David Arquette the WCW title. Good. WCW sucked. Also, I like Jamie Kennedy. And Jon Stewart got his start in the Faculty, did he not?

On the other hand, no one should be allowed to CGI Scooby-Doo. And boy did Scary Movie 2 suck.

This is a tough decision. I'll wait.

Jon Stewart was in the Faculty. He got his break like 5 years earlier when he had his own talk show on MTV. That's like saying the Faculty started the careers of Salma Hayek and Robert Patrick.

If you like Jamie Kennedy I just can't help you. Especially if that weighs more than David Arquette and Matthew Lillard.

For the record, Scream was a decent flick. And it came out at a time when Horror was sinking fast. But its not half as clever as it thinks it is and the self referential shit gets really bothersome. Craven also was kinda testing patience by making a horror movie that mocked the cliches of the genre only to fill it with the cliches of the genre. Its like claiming Desperate Housewives isn't a soap opera but rather is a satire of a soap opera that looks exactly like one.

And the movie was responsible for the horror genre being filled with crappy teen films. It kicked off the career of 3 horrible actors who make their careers off of making you want to punch them in the face and have just brought crap after crap on us. Its responsible for fucking DAWSON'S CREEK! That idiotic piece of crap that kicked off more careers of worthless actors and was filled with the most ridiculous teen dialogue ever. It kicked off Kevin Williamson's career and that worthless bastard has been making crap every since. Seriously, look at his IMDB list.

I liked Scream a lot when it came out. If you hate Blair Witch for all the crap it spawned how you can't hate Scream for the fucking PLAGUE of shit it spawned I have no idea. Not to mention the 2 fucking horrible sequels that killed my respect for the original more than the Matrix franchise managed to.

Eh. While I agree that Blair Witch is the scarier of the two, I can't imagine getting that worked up over a bunch of crap that wasn't of any interest to me, and clearly wasn't intended to be of interest to me.

Dawson's Creek came on when I was 17 and a senior in high school and was constantly a topic of conversation throughout my college days. It was about people my age or a year or so younger.

Arquette, Lillard, and Kennedy filled Hollywood and all owe their careers to Scream. As did Williams.

I named like half a dozen horror films and clearly pointed to an entire fad of horror films it inspired. 2, really. The mocking self referential stuff that Scary Movie was the extreme of and the teen idol filled dreck. Scream 2-3, I Know What You Did 1-2, Final Destination 1-3, Faculty, Halloween H20, Bride of Chucky, Carrie 2, American Werewolf in Paris, Urban Legends 1-2, Teaching Mrs Tingle, Dracula 2001, and Lord knows what I can't remember.

I gotta say. I think the bad after affects of Scream were both intended to interest me and did. Like I said, I really liked Scream when it came out. It was a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately it left a very nasty smell afterwards.
