So I'm playing the good co-worker this year and working today (12/24) and Friday. It's pretty dead, but at least that means I can catch up on a lot of my assignments. Plus, I'm off all next week, so--like I said--someone has to be the good co-worker during Christmas.

So who else is out there today and Friday, what are you doing and why are you there?

Seamus works retail, so he's working all day today and then also Friday.

I'm working at the radio room on Friday. I was going to try to pick up a shift either today or tomorrow, because nothing ever happens and it's easy double time pay. But by the time it got to me, they were all taken.

Technically, I'm writing syllabi for the next quarter, but because I'm doing that from home, that doesn't feel like it counts.

I'm working today but leaving around 2 or 3. I am taking off Thursday & Friday. I'm excited because I have a stretch of 4 weeks in a row where I don't work a full week. Next week I'm off NY Day. Then I'm taking off Jan 8-9 of the next week to watch the Florida game somewhere to be determined. Then Jan 11-14 I'll be vacationing at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. I'm loving my 2.5, 4, 3, and 2 day work weeks.

Working. One of the perks we don't get as a government employee is the week of the holidays off.

Junkie: My company is contracted with the government. I can tell you that there's very few of them herte today. You may not get the time off, but everyone takes the time off. (Of course, here in California, it's now called a furlough.)

oh, believe me there are a lot of people who aren't here today. I prefer to save my vacation days for when I can use them in chunks.

That and I just started here a few months ago, so I'm trying to preserve vacation days.

I worked today, but we were all let go at noon. I really just made a couple calls and that was my 3 hours, that and Prison Lockdown, Vampire Wars & Mob Wars.

I'm off until next Friday.

I am out of here at 2:30...knew that going in, but am working a full day Friday. I have a feeling THAT'S when it will really be dead. Still, it will eb the last day of work for a week. I can survive. I've left just enough work to make me look busy.

I worked tonight and I'll be working on Christmas night as well. Retail rules. I'm off Friday because it's a normal day off for me. I've worked everyday this week so I'm due.

I worked the day shift (7AM-5PM) yesterday and am working the night shift today (5PM-7AM) as a dispatcher for the Erie (PA) Fire Department. Major call was for a conduit fire underneath the main downtown street.
The fire wasn't a major one, but the local electric company had to shut down power for the majority of downtown, which meant that my partner and I had to call maintenance staffs for all of the high-rise buildings, Hamot Hospital, Gannon Univ. security (some of their properties were going to be affected), local water authority and the county 911 (since we knew that people were going to call 911 to report traffic lights out).
Also, we had to notify the FD Chief, Assistant Chief, the city electrician on call, the radio technician on call (about the only person in charge that we didn't have to call was the mayor, since the Chief said that he'd take care of that).
Ehhh, just another day in Paradise.

Been off since Tuesday afternoon, but "Flying solo" on monday...

I work 4 1/2 days during the week, and my co-worker is talking all next week off. I moved my half-day back, used my regular half-day, then the company gave us an extra 4 hours off, so my "Christmas break" didn't cost me any vacation/personal time.

I have PLANS for that time, oh yes.......

got off on the 18th, going back on the 5th! Only 3 days of vacations come out of my account. I got some good conditions for Christmas.

I've been working since last Monday and I don't get a day off until next Monday. I volunteered to work through this week with so many off the other drivers taking time off for the holidays. I'm gonna make a shitload of money though. I did our longest route yesterday which normally pays $120 per, but its double for holidays. I made $480 in one day. I don't think I've made much more than that in any given week of my life before this. Best part? I made it 4 miles into my afternoon route before they called it off due to weather conditions, but I still get paid. See why I moved to this shithole?
