So, I was excited about seeing this show and see how they'd work it. I guess it's as "reality" as the WWE could get without going all Ultimate Fighter on us. I've never seen any of these guys including Daniel Bryan. Never seen the WWE minor leagues or ROH or pretty much any other wrestling besides TNA, so I was excited to see them (specifically him) in action.
My first reactions to each guy:
Daniel Bryan - I liked his mic work well enough for someone who apparently doesn't have a personality. I wish he would have retaliated against Miz when he got slapped, but I get the whole respect the vets stuff. His match was pretty good and I like his style. And yes, I assume that when he goes for more than 8 minutes he's 100x more awesome. I liked his submission move and his setting up the leg for said submission. I liked his counter to the Walls, too. Good stuff and I think he'll be a fun addition to the roster as long as they don't screw him up.
Heath Slater - Seems like a real tool. Might make a good heel, but probably not any higher than a Hawkins and Ryder level.
Michael Tarver - Didn't show me much and if he can kill anyone with one punch, why doesn't he just come out swinging? Or how about just go get into boxing? Probably going to suck.
Darren Young - Is he a black guy or a whole can-a-tan guy? Looks like a jobber to me, especially after he got pinned after a fucked up spinebuster. I love how Punk doesn't care so I'm guessing the quick loss is part of the storyline involving his "training" with Punk?
David Otunga - This guy seems to have everything he needs to get over. Great look and promo. He has a certain something about him and he even made me chuckle a few times. Now, can he wrestle? I couldn't tell, but he screweed up at least one move. He probably sucks.
Wade Barrett - Man, they gave that guy some shit, but he seems like a douche that can't follow directions well. No idea if he can wrestle.
Justin Gabriel - Didn't see him.
Skip Sheffield - Didn't see him.
Other stuff: Michael Cole is so fucking hard to stomach. "I've never heard of this guy until this show!" He comes off like an asshole in what he says and how he says it. Also, the Walls of Jericho! Not just a Boston Crab, but a full on 1997 Liontamer! Nice. It's weird they had some top guys train these guys, but still it's kind of cool to see your World Champion fight a "rookie" on the third show and it be competitive.
