Yes, this is probably a little earlier than necessary, but why not? Let's get the discussion going. Here are a couple of things I am either changing or considering changing and want some input on
Start date is tentatively June 4. As i said earlier, my wife is having surgery later this month, so depending n how that goes I may push back a week.
I'm again appointing Hodgey as the VP of Operations, as long as he's still willing.
If someone wants to volunteer to run the MK Boards this year, I'd love it, otherwise, we'll go without.
I'm also going to reach out to some of the former drafters. Last year was only 17 drafters after 20, 21, 24 the previous years, and I'm afraid numbers will drop off even more. Help me convince people to play. I'd really like to see 20 again. It's going to be a blow to the ol' ego if we drop down again.
Any other topics or things to discuss? let's hear them!
Here are the rules I plan to go by.
Wrestling Draft 2012 Rules
- 12 Hour Clocks. I advocated this last year, and did it during the All-Time Baseball Draft. I didn't see any real problems because of it, and we had just a couple of misses. Unless there is a unanimous outcry, I'm pretty sure this one is in
- Authority Figures. This is another thing I'm 99.99% sure we're doing this year. Seeing as how nearly everyone does it anyway, each fed will be required to name an authority figure. They may wrestle or announce at the same time.
- The Super-P Cup. It's currently listed. Should we keep it? I have no qualms with it, but it was born in a time when most of us did pretty thorough Fed write-ups. Last year? not so much. I think it's a fun little mid-draft thing to toss around, but if they are not used, should we bother?
- The Arena Round. I've considered making the draft 41 rounds and letting us pick our arenas whenever we please. In the first Wrestling Draft, announcers were picked on the last 2 'supplemental' rounds. The following year, they were picked during the regular draft. We've done arenas in the last round for 2 drafts now, is it time to just lump them in with the rest? That would definitely add some extra strategy and make things more interesting.

Wrestling Draft 2012 Rules
- Opening Bell: Monday, June 4, 2012 at Noon Eastern. Picks can be made once Draft List is posted, but Clocks do not start until then.
Draft List should be posted by Friday, June 1
Sign up closes Thursday, May 31 at 11:59 pm EDT. - Avoid Being Counted Out: Each player has an 12 Hour Clock, beginning at the time of the previous pick, in which to place their pick. If they miss a clock, the next player is on the clock. If an invalid pick is made, the next player is on the clock, while the player who made the invalid pick may re-pick whenever they have the opportunity.
No Clock suspensions.
To keep the draft moving during an absence from the boards, you may 'float' a pick or two. A reasonable explanation will be required. If your absence extends past the indicated time, subsequent clocks will be considered missed - Don't Be Greedy Rule: Players can only draft one roster member per pick.
- AA Is An Asshole Rule: If a player is presented with multiple consecutive draft picks, they are only given one clock to make all consecutive picks.
- The Pickpickpickpickpickpickpick Rule:
First Missed Clock: Oops.
Second Missed Clock: Ok, now we're getting annoyed.
Third Missed Clock: 4 Hour Clocks for the remainder of the Draft
Fourth Missed Clock: Put on Auto-skip and the next player's clock begins.
If you think you will be out of touch, leave a list with a fellow drafter. Remember, the drafts often have spurts of activities, so please, pay attention. If you do not want to leave a list, enough of us have each others numbers by this point to make communication possible. So get someone's number to call or text. I will make my number available to anyone who requests it for that purpose. - The Eric O'Mac / Ecosystem Rule: Team drafts are allowed. Whenever the team's pick is on the clock, any team member may make a valid selection. Should there be a situation where members attempt to select different wrestlers with the same pick, the first posted pick stands. Teams need to work out amongst themselves who is responsible for each pick.
A similar standard will exist for submitting Trades, Add/Drop transactions & Submitting Cards. The first submission stands. - I Have to Pick How Many? Rule: Each player has 40 total roster spots to fill by the end of the draft.
If trades are done that result in anyone having more than 40 total draft picks, any remaining picks will be waived once they reach 40.
If trades are done that result in any drafter having less than 40 total draft picks throughout the draft, they will have the opportunity to complete their roster during Add/Drop.
40 is the maximum roster size, there is no minimum roster size. - I Think I'm Done Rule: At any point in the draft, a player may "Call Their Draft." This means that the player is finished drafting and would like their remaining draft picks to be waived. Once a player calls their draft, their roster is set and cannot trade roster members or picks. If they decide they want to add more members to their roster, they must wait until Add/Drop begins to do so.
- Be Reasonable Clause: If I determine someone is floating picks to circumvent the above rule, I reserve the right to nullify said picks and declare their roster set until Add/Drop.
- The Dashbee Rule: 2 of your picks are for announcers. Announcers can not do anything but announce on each card submitted. Announcers may change from card to card. Your announcers may be ring announcers or television commentators.
- Respect Mah Authoritay Rule: You must name one of your draftees as your federations Authority Figure. They may be given any title you choose (GM, President, etc...) This person may be one of your active wrestlers as well. This person may be one of your announcers.
- Barack Obama / Tito Ortiz Rule Players can draft anyone who has participated in professional wrestling but can only use them in the way they were used.
Wrestler - Participated in at least one career match.
Performer (Authority Figure, Announcer, Valet / Manager)
Crew Member (Referee, Timekeeper)
Special Guest (Musical Acts, Guest Speakers, etc...)
You may use someone for a position lower than their level of participation, but not above. Guest Hosts are considered Authority Figures. Announcer includes Ring Announcers and Television Commentators - The Suicide Rule: If multiple people have portrayed a character, You must make clear who you are drafting.
- Dustin Rhodes Rule: If a person has portrayed multiple characters throughout their career and are drafted, you can use any of those portrayed characters.
- The New and Improved Consolidated Chickenshit Heel Rule: Anyone drafted must have participated in an actual Professional Wrestling federation (WWE, TNA, ROH, CZW, JCW, etc.) This means no e-fed characters, no Randy "The Ram" from The Wrestler, no Nacho Libre, no Ready To Rumble, etc. No inanimate objects (Moppy, Mr. Socko, etc.), no animals (Terrible Ted, Chloe, etc.), and no God.
- The Artist Formerly Known as Rabbxt Rule: Professional Wrestling Only. Wrestling in a backyard or other makeshift venues does not make one eligible. Selling tickets to "events" or airing matches on YouTube or Public Access does not make one a professional and they are therefor not eligible to be drafted.
- Location, Location, Location: The Final Round (41) of the Draft is for drafting an arena for your cards. You may include your Arena Round Pick as part of a trade, but you must receive an Arena Round Pick in return. No one may be without a pick or may have multiple picks in the round. The order for this round will be randomized separately and posted along with the Draft List. Arenas must be added & dropped between Showdown rounds just like roster changes. They do not count towards the 3 per round roster change limit.
Your arena must exist on this planet and be able to realistically host a pro wrestling event. Questionable arenas should be cleared through me. (I'm looking at you Gator) - Proper Pick Posting Policy: Players should post their pick in bold text, and include the pick number as seen on the draft list.
Pick number will NOT change, regardless of missed clocks or floating picks. If pick 34 gets made after pick 40, so be it - Goldberg Rule: Please list who is next on the clock with your pick. This is less a RULE and more a courtesy. Violating this does not invalidate a pick, but will earn you a smite
- DevSop Will Be Driving Me Nuts Rule: All trades must be placed in and confirmed by all involved parties in the Trading Block thread. Trading can involve draft picks and/or roster members, and may be done throughout the entire draft period.
- I Changed My Mind! Rule: Add/Drop begins at Noon Eastern the first weekday after the draft is completed in full and will be open for 48 Hours before being closed for the start of the Showdown.
During Add/Drop, players with under 40 filled roster spots may add any free agents to their roster until they get to 40.
Dropped roster members are considered free agents and are therefor able to be added by other players.
Once the add/drop begins, it is first-come/first-served. - How Do I Win? Rule: Showdown format will be determined by the number of players and posted when. More than likely, a Round Robin Format will be used. Every player is required to submit cards via Pun's House pm to TexShark300 by the posted deadline. No late cards will be accepted. Failing to submit a card will result in an automatic DQ.
Between Showdowns rounds, A 24 Hour Add/Drop/Trade window will open up. Each player is limited to 3 new roster members, and trades/adds/drops must not violate the 40-person roster limit.
When a player is eliminated, their rosters remain Off Limits during Add/Drop - Pretend You Are Moose Rule: Submit a new card for each Showdown Round. If you do not wish to fantasy book, fine, you still must change at least 1 match per card. If your card has no changes, you will be DQ'd
- John Quincy Adams Rule: Pun will be asked to serve as our tie-breaker. If he cannot be reached in 24 hours, I will select a Non-Drafter to break the tie.
- Where Are My MK Boards?: If someone wishes to volunteer to make MK images, great. Otherwise Each Roster will be listed below the draft order and updated as often as possible. We all have jobs and lives, so do not rely on the Roster list to tell you exactly who is still "On the Board"
- Super P-Cup: After Round 12, Each player will have until the following Monday at Noon Eastern to send TexShark300 via Pun's House pm a list of 2 of their roster members to be put in the Super-P-Cup Battle Royal. A winner will be chosen randomly and that player may use the Super P-Cup in their fed's write-ups. If they lose a Showdown round, the winning fed may write the Super P-Cup into their write-ups at that time.
- Super P Tag Team Cup: After Round 24, Each player will have until the following Monday at Noon Eastern to send TexShark300 via Pun's House pm a list of 2 tag teams to be put in the Super P Tag Team Cup Battle Royal. A winner will be chosen randomly and that player may use the Super P Tag Team Cup in their fed's write-ups. If they lose a Showdown round, the winning fed may write the Super P Tag Team Cup into their write-ups at that time.
Yes, wrestlers may be repeated in both the Super P and Super P Tag Team Cup Battle Royals. - This Is Not A Democracy Rule: I will make the final decisions. If I cannot be reached in 24 Hours, Hodgey may rule. All decisions will be made with The Integrity of the Draft in mind.
- Go Ahead, Take Your Ball And Go Home Corollary: By making your first pick you agree to every rule and possible decision. If anyone has a problem with a rule or a decision, their only recourse is to quit.
- Gator Likes Being Difficult Rule Abraham Lincoln is ineligible to be drafted.
- The Pun's House Motto Applies Don't Be Douchey!
