Ra's is badass, but I have to go for Apocalypse for overall villainy.

I just read Ra's's (Ra's'?) Wiki and he actually sounds pretty lame. I loved the Neeson portrayal in Batman Begins, but there doesn't seem like there's very much that's special about the guy.

i think a lot of characters come off as lame when you just baldly rattle off their bio. the important thing about ra's is that he wants batman as an ally. not just an ally, but his protege, son-in-law, and successor.

he sees the modern world as a place where the masses of men reward mediocrity and marginalize great men such as himself and batman. his solution: cause a disaster that kills most of the world's population, then take the reigns of a smaller, more tractable humanity. and his mindset is so perverted that he's surprised that batman doesn't think that's a great deal--particularly with immortality and his beautiful daughter thrown in for sweetener.

I'll be honest, when the initial brackets were shown, I was fully expecting to vote for Ra's based on the recent movie. But reading more into both of these guys just shows that Apocalypse is MUCH more of a bad-ass.

And that's why Apocalypse is a better villain. He just wants people to worship him as he rules the world with his mighty mutant fist.

If anything, I have to root for Apocalypse because of his Horsemen have included:

Angel - who became blue-sinned/metal-winged Archangel thanks to 'Lypse

Wolverine

Polaris - who I hate, and would much rather see as a villain so I can continue to hate her.

Sunfire - who I dig, but who has been an insignificant character for much of his comic existence

Gambit - who willingly sided with Apocalypse because 'Lypse is that much of a bad-ass. Finally, after years of being "the handsome guy who likes Rogue", there is a finally a reason to care about Gambit once again.

not to mention, his lackies are named after the greatest wrestling stable of all time.

[Batman]

Ra's and Apocalypse really have a lot in common: they both think "Boy this world would be great if there weren't so many damn people. And, of course, if I ruled it." The biggest difference is that Ra's was featured in awesome comic books like this one:





And Apocalypse in lame ones like this one:



Though I suppose it's a matter of taste, really.

I'm not going to vote for a guy based off pics when I have a live action Ra's in my memory banks. Plus Liam nailed the role and I enjoyed the movie. It is tough to overcome that.

I guess I wouldn't know if he nailed the role since I never heard of the character before the movie. I guess I meant to say that he was awesome in it. (Cillian Murphey was also very awesome in it as well.)

If you liked Murphy in that, do yourself a favor and check out "Red Eye". I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but I enjoyed the hell out of that movie. Rachel McAdams and Colby from "Survivor" dont' hurt it, either.

I NEVER saw the appeal in Apocalypse. About as generic an evil world conquering mutant as I can imagine. His Horsemen were cool. He's certainly powerful. I don't think I ever said "Oh good, an Apocalypse story."

That's big in my voting here. If you're a Batman fan you buy Batman books. But that's only half of the equation. When you look at that cover you say "Yes! A Joker story!" "Awesome, Two Face!" But do you say "Clayface! That rules!"? Apocalypse hangs out somewhere with Stryfe as far as an X-Men villain I wanted to see starring in the book.
