Okay gang, this is it. Your showdowns are set to launch.
That's right, I said Showdowns. Gator was right (Go reward him for us, will ya, Cort? ): Trying to combine them all into one was a logistical headache. So they've been split up into two categories: Cartoon Showdown and Live Action Showdown.
I assigned a reverse number value for each ranking submitted. For example: I picked Transformers as my #1 show, so that received 16 points. Mighty Orbots was my 16th pick, so that received 1 point. The shows were then ranked according to how many points they received.
Of course, there were still issues to overcome. After splitting them out I was left with 61 cartoons and 28 live action shows. One option was to pare it down to a 32 seed bracket for the cartoons and a 16 seed bracket for the live action. But the picking and choosing of which ones got in and which ones got cut would have been a nightmare.
Let’s see, Snorks received three 16 place votes for a total of three points. But the Getalong Gang got one 14th place vote, also for a total of three points! Which one is more worthy to get obliterated by Animaniacs in the first round: The Snorks or the Getalong Gang?
In the end - with the judicious use of byes - I included every single nomination. The Cartoon Showdown is a 64 seed bracket, with the top three shows getting byes to Round 2. The Live Action Showdown is a 32 seed bracket with the top four shows getting byes into Round 2.
The brackets can be found here:

Live Action Showdown: www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=203065&tclass=Live%20Action%20Showdown%21
If you look at the Cartoon Showdown some of the seeding matchups may seem unfair. Projecting out, the first bracket, second round will have (1) Looney Tunes against (17) Dexter’s Lab and (25) Thundercats against (9) Tom and Jerry. Luckily, this site allows me to re-seed, so we can always have the highest going against the lowest.
Before we begin: An exalt to Moose for pointing me out to the bracket maker site. An exalt to Tex for being a sounding board for getting the process up and running. And an “I smite you to holy hell!” for MKid. When he reseeded his picks he dropped one show out entirely, but forgot to mention that. So that show was still listed in the spreadsheet breakdown and was skewing the results until I realized what was happening and pulled it out. Bad Mkid! Bad Mkid! ;D
And so, we’re set to launch. The next few posts will be discussions of the matchups commencing. Let The Startening finally start!
