<Story One>
General Manager Gory Guerrero steps out from behind the curtain in the Haskins Center, El Paso, TX.
Gory Guerrero: Didn’t expect to see me? I know I was very hurt when Ecosystem didn’t draft me per tradition. In fact, in such a large draft – in the mid-600s even with some drafts called early - I know a lot of people were very hurt to not be drafted. I know that Michael Cole and Josh Mathews were very hurt to be on no one’s announce team.
Cole: Screw you guys!
Mathews: Yeah, screw you!
Gory: I know that other non-wrestling professionals like Lilian Garcia, "Mean" Gene Okerlund, and Earl Hebner were disappointed that the drafters seemed to have no use for them.
And certainly, many of the great wrestlers who remained undrafted were disappointed. Thus, I created El Paso Independent Wrestling to showcase some of the talents that went unused in this draft. This being an independent federation with no contracts, any of these wrestlers may of course be picked up in add/drop. I hope some of them will be, in fact! But in the meanwhile, we’re going to put on a great –
Just then, Steve Corino comes out and takes a microphone of his own.
Steve Corino: Gory, I appreciate a great deal what you’re doing here. But you don’t promote an independent wrestling show just by naming all your fancy cast-off WWE broadcasters. You promote an independent wrestling show by showcasing your great wrestlers – in particular, the King of the Indies, the King of Old School . . . Steve Corino.
Gory: I had no intention of forgetting you, Mr. Corino. You are indeed the King of the Indies. But as for the King of Old School . . . you’ll have to test that in a Triple Threat Match for the El Paso Heavyweight Championship.
Corino: Bring it on, who’ve you got?
Gory: Try two of the first five WWE champions . . . Buddy Rogers and Pedro Morales!
