Ok so in honour of Gator of Christmas Past, I'm starting a comedic character tournament where the 128 funniest characters in movies and tv go up against each other.
RULES: Nominate anyone from any movie or tv show (be as specific as possible). You may nominate up to 4 at a time. Please let everyone get a shot to post—so wait 4 hours from your last batch of nominees before posting back to back.
The brackets will be totally randomized but if anyone can think of a way to avoid loaded first round matchups, I'm all ears. And nose.
My suggestion: have a tv side and film side. 64 characters each. The TV side winner would face the film side winner for supremacy.
As far as seeding goes, maybe you could have people vote on who they think the number one seed is and the top vote getters would be the top seeds and then everyone else gets slotted randomly.

I think it'll wind up being tv vs. movie when it's all said and done anyway.
Great idea re: seedings. I'll post a list of the 128 nominees and the top 4 vote getters will be the top seeds for each group.
"You were part Canadian as soon as your dick took up permanent residence in Moosejaw." - Hoodge
"and 29 Fingers, what the fuck is that shit? Who wrote a song about your anal world record set at the Stuckeys just outside of San Diego?" - Moose
"But yeah, I'd rather stick my dick in a dead guys asshole then watch Anchorman again." - Creeps
I challenge Flip Wilson, who is a real person. I thought this was fictional characters.
I'm also not big on Sean Connery, which is a celebrity impression from a sketch comedy show. Sketch comedy show characters could be a gray area.
I think same actor playing different characters is fine.
What about different actors playing the same character? Inspector Clouseau for instance has been played in multiple movies by Steve Martin and Peter Sellers. Is it just inspector Clouseau, or do we have to be specific on the nomination as to what version?
I'll change Flip Wilson to his character Geraldine Jones. I can see Leo's point and was wondering about Flip and Carol Burnett. Both have popular characters that can be nominated.
