The Tenth Doctor busies himself about the Tardis when warning sirens go off. He pulls down a viewing monitor and puts on his brainy specs to take a look.
He mumbles out loud to himself, “a planet just popped up where there wasn’t one before. Well, that just can’t happen…well, actually it can. I must have seen that at least a dozen times. Let’s take a closer look.”
The Tardis materializes just inside the opening of a cave. The Doctor walks out and starts looking around. He turns to the left and from behind him to the right he hears “stand down.”
“Stand down? I can sit down or stand up, but I don’t think I can stand down,” the Doctor says as he turns slowly to see about a dozen droids with guns trained on him.
Suddenly the lead droid is blown apart by a laser blast from above. Laser fire rains down, then a black, bald man with a light saber comes into a view and with several twirls and flips of his sword takes down the remaining enemies.
“Wow, that’s better than those ginsu knives they sell on earth,” the Doctor says.
The man retracts the light saber and looks at the Doctor. “Who are you,” he says.
“Oh, me, I’m the Doctor,” and he extends his hand.
The black man looks at it. “Doctor who?”
“Oh, that’s the question everyone always asks.”
“Forgive my friend here, his sense of humor reminds me much of a Vulcan in that it’s practically non-existent,” says a man with a swagger in a yellow shirt and black pants as he drops down from the top of the cave.
“I’m Captain James T. Kirk of the Federation,” he says while extending a hand.
“I’m Mace Windu of the Jedi High Council,” Mace says as he extends a more reluctant hand.
“I’ve never heard of either of those bodies and I’ve been from one end of the universe to another,” the Doctor says.
“Well, none of us had heard of each other until we got here,” says a blonde woman who extends a hand. “Kara Thrace of the Battlestar Galactica. You can call me Starbuck.”
“I am Gamora of the Guardians of the Galaxy,” Gamora says, but she doesn’t extend a hand.
Kirk continues, “this planet appeared out of nowhere and my ship, the Enterprise was sent to check it out. But, when we arrived, I found myself transported down here to the surface and the Enterprise was gone. Everyone else has similar stories.”
“And we’re not alone,” Mace adds. “The droids here are enemies my allies and I have been fighting for years.”
“We all have enemies here. The only ones we can’t place are these weird robots with plungers on their faces and egg beaters for arms.”
“Daleks,” the Doctor interjects. “Those are Daleks. I guess you could say those are mine. They’re the most dangerous beings in the universe.”
“Apparently you never met a Cylon,” Starbuck says.
“Well, Doctor, you seem to be one of us. Someone stranded here by who, we don’t know, and for what, we don’t know,” Kirk says.
“We’re not stranded, we can take my Tardis and leave,” Doctor goes to the cave opening to show them the Tardis, but it’s gone.
“My ship, the Tardis, it’s gone,” the Doctor states.
“Your ship fit in this cave,” Gamora asks.
“It’s bigger on the inside,” the Doctor says out of habit. “Where did it go?”
“Come with us,” Kirk says. “We have a headquarters set up. Little by little, we’ll get this figured out.”
