This isn't even a tough choice for me. I still sing "C is for Cookie" sometimes before eating cookies. When I want to annoy my wife I'll start counting things like The Count. And then there is Oscar The Grouch. This should be a blowout.

I've been one of the biggest advocates/fans of LotL in this...or in Luckyspeak..."a sleestack-loving fag." And I've been very pleased with how well it has done in this contest, winning two matchups. However, and especially looking at this matchup, it has run its course.


I had fairly recently broke out some Sesame Street LPs that I had kept from when I was a kid, and shared them w/ my kiddo. The nostalgia there of being able to purely enjoy something that I had enjoyed w/ him was just awesome. The two of us singing "I love Trash" together...priceless.

Dial-up at home? What gives?

Can't be an availability issue - even if you're in the ~20-30% who can't get DSL from your telco (yes, VZ has availability issues that I am not proud of), broadband from cable is pretty much ubiquitous. I'm guessing you live in Cox or Comcast territory.

So what's the rationale?

VZ is around, and they offer DSL in seemingly every area except for the one I live in. I’ve tried to get their cheap standalone package (as seen advertised on Yahoo ALL THE TIME) for years now, but they seemingly have no plans to ever come in to my neighborhood. They’ll be doing that DIOS thing, but that’s $30-$40 more expensive per month than the DSL up by me.

As for Cable/Broadband – I’m one of the five whole people in the US who doesn’t have cable. For the time I actually spend online at home it is not worth it for us to buy a separate high speed web link up.


(One good thing about VZ for all of you with newborns – in promoting the DIOS system they’ve been giving out stress relievers in the shape of remote controls. I snagged three of them. They’re perfect teething toys for babies. They’re the perfect size and shape for babies to pick up and eventually shove in their mouths. Out of all my guy’s toys that freebie is one of his favorites.)
