Discussion and Sign-Up Thread

Looking for eight players. Will be divided into two divisions of four teams. Everyone writes three cards and faces everyone in their division. Division winners square off in a finals.

Each player will be randomly assigned a roster based on a current wrestling company/brand. More on those rosters below. Companies/brands are RAW, Smackdown, NXT, AEW, New Japan, Impact, ROH and NWA.

Round 1 – Franchise Tags: Everyone can franchise three players. One male wrestler, one female wrestler and one tag team. Franchise players cannot be traded or dropped for any reason. Franchise tags must be declared within 24 hours of being assigned a roster.

Round 2 – Roster Swaps: You can trade your brand/company, minus the wrestlers you have franchised, for any other brand/company. Open for 24 hours.

Round 3 – Trading: You have up to three trades per company/brand (meaning you have a total of 21 trades). Trades must be even – male wrestler for male wrestler, female wrestler for female wrestler, tag team for tag team. If you want to use your three trades all on male wrestlers, or two male wrestlers and a female, that’s fine; but the individual trade has to be like for like. Open for 48 hours.

Round 4 – Free Agency: Draft order will be reverse of how I have the companies listed above. Roster size is fixed, so you have to drop somebody to pick up somebody. It has to be like for like – male wrestler for male wrestler, female wrestler for female wrestler, tag team for tag team. Once you drop somebody, they join free agency. This is a current draft so if you draft somebody you get them as they are today. If you take Ric Flair, you’re getting 70-year-old geezer Ric Flair, not in his prime. Free agency continues until everyone finalizes their roster. Once you call your free agency and finalized your roster, you can’t reopen it.

When you write your cards, anything goes. If you want to break up tag teams, or form new tag teams, or have women fight men, you can do anything with the roster once it’s finalized.

All rosters feature 15 men, 10 women and five tag teams.

I tried to rank rosters from top to bottom, meaning some deeper rosters are missing what I would consider lower card people. They are free agents. I’m not against swapping some names before rosters are assigned if a majority of people feel I’ve missed a key name.

Managers and valets have been assigned in some cases.

For your brand you also get any ancillary talent such as referees, commentators and authority figures; but they can’t be traded or dropped.

I didn’t disqualify anyone if there were currently injured (Samoa Joe) or currently not on television (The Uso Brothers).

For the NWA, I mostly pulled from Power, from got a few people from Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, an NWA affiliate.

The Motor City Machine Guns got reformed for ROH, because Alex Shelley recently wrestled for them and Chris Sabin is listed on their roster page. Lana Austin recently worked for ROH and was added to fill out the women’s division.

New Japan doesn’t have a women’s division, but recently brokered a deal with Stardom, so their women’s division comes from there.

Nia Jax was given to Smackdown because they were short a woman.

Street Profits were sent back to NXT and a few NXT UK people were thrown in.

For clarity, the free agency pool prior to any drops contains anyone in the world not listed above? And am I reading the Ric Flair example right to say that retired wrestlers are fair game to put back into wrestling - since they never retire anyway - but with the understanding that we're getting them at their current age?

To take an example that might not be first to go - if I get NWA and say "Who's Andy Brown? I want Justin Credible!" I can draft 46-year-old Justin, even though he hasn't wrestled (to my knowledge) in the last two years.

Yes. You can pretty much take anybody you want, with the understanding that you are getting them in their current era. So even with someone like Dustin Rhodes who is part of the a AEW roster already, this is him now not for 20 or 25 years ago like the regular draft.
