I'm pretty sure the member ranks haven't been touched for over a decade, and I feel like they could use an updating. Four of them are from an Eric Bischoff TNA promo back in 2010. Any chance we can think up some fun, new member ranks? Here's what we currently have:

And a side note: The required post counts could also be tweaked a bit from its default. Solly has been an active member here for 15 years and has the most posts of anyone on the board at ~21k, which is still 4k short of the penultimate rank, and less than half of the final rank. And I get that the "please leave your house" rank is a joke thing, but the fact that it would take over 35 years for somebody to get there kind of makes it seem a little pointless. I'd recommend lowering the final rank post count and tweaking the previous ranks to be more in line with the standard posting regularity here.

And a side note to the side note: Most of the frequent posters these days are staff (mods, global mods, admins), which overrides the member rank in the mini-profile, but there are still non-staffed posters with displayed ranks (and at least one staffed user that displays rank instead of staff group), so I don't think it's completely not-worth-it to maybe play around with.

I made some updates but willing to take suggestions on more and post counts. Its a lot of draft/showdown stuff and when I got tired of being creative, I used the three main AEW factions to fill out the center (Inner Circle, Elite, Pinnacle). But it's easy enough to change and add more if needed. I can also tweak the stars and color of the stars if anyone wants specific things.


ETA: I also want to test the Admin/Mod thing but need to do that with someone else who is online at the same time to fix anything if I accidentally unmod/unadmin them or myself while doing it.

My thinking was going board/poster-related (I had the draft-related thought, also, but realized that a good amount of posters are C&B-exclusive, so the draft stuff wouldn't really make the most sense for them - plus, there's only so much you can do with using "level of drafter" as ranks), but it was tougher to come up with things than I thought it would be when I first got the idea of changing the ranks.



I was thinking of keeping the Murgen rank so that the old "Murgen Mat" board still made sense. I do like the Cupcake rank, too.

Some other ideas I had:
Honorary Canadian - stole this from Fire's custom status, could maybe tweak it so it isn't a direct copy...Blaming Canada...Apologetically Canadian...
Steers and Queers - might not be acceptable to have as something that could show up on every page...was trying for something Texas-related...maybe Messing with Texas
Banned From Everywhere - OOWF reference, just thought it made for a cool higher-level rank
Chickenshit Heel - half wrestling reference, half OOWF reference, thought it sounded like a good lower to mid-level rank

Was trying to come up with something for Ohio and North Carolina...currently blanking.



throw in some wrestling references...just some ideas here:
Boring Carbon would make for a good low rank
Instant Classic is an obvious one, if a little bland
Freshly Squeezed
Dolphin Master
Master of the Small Package
You Know What That Means for a high level



wouldn't mind a couple sports references to reference C&B/sports in general



As for post counts, here's my idea for that:

250 is the only odd one out there I think (the only one that's not an even hundred or thousand). I like it as a middleman between 100 and 500, but also wouldn't mind foregoing it. I could also take or leave 1.5k. Otherwise, I think the intervals here both make sense to the rate of posting here and are pretty even in terms of the numbers used (gaps of 500, 1k, 2.5k, 5k, etc.).

I made another update based on some of these. I didn't use the location based ones as I'm not sure I see how those make sense for global ranks, but I did try to get in a few of the others. I also combined Murgen and Freshly Squeeze as I think that makes sense. And with regards to the C&B and the drafts, well C&B does include drafts so that works out overall. There's also a lot more ranks now which I don't think is a big deal but if there's anything specific that someone really wants or doesn't want; let me know.

The location-based ranks were just intended to be fun little references to some known member locations. The former "Pussy Willow of Wisconsin" and "Russian with a Concussion" ranks were location-based also, just made less sense (I think) than having them referencing some of our regular posters. We're such a tight-knit kind of group that I thought some self-references could be fun.

My original intention with this thread was to have a bunch of us more-or-less brainstorming in-thread prior to actually applying any of the changes (which is why I didn't change the ranks myself and instead came here to discuss it as a group, but maybe that's just me not feeling as comfortable with making changes around here without consulting the field).

Would it be a good idea to have a brainstorming thread active for a week or so with everybody throwing out some ideas, then follow that up with a big voting thread where we vote for our top 10 or something? (probably put it in Showdown Central so it actually gets some attention; I feel like this thread doesn't have much activity because nobody checks this section of the forum) If we just decide to stick with what we have now, I'll acquiesce, but I liked the idea of having a group-think on it.

It's easy enough to change so I don't mind changing it multiple times. I was just bored and agreed that they probably needed updating so went with some simple things, but I'm all for brainstorming more and getting a consensus on anything anyone wants.

That's correct. They (along with Impotent Warrior and President Obama of Head Trauma) were nicknames that Eric Bischoff had Mr. Anderson introduced by. I'm fine with omitting any location ranks, it was just the first thing that came to mind as a way to do some little self-referencing. I'm gonna post a brainstorming thread in Showdown Central and see if anybody else cares to jump in.
